Play calling and Special teams

Ken Peters describes the final two series for both teams and nails it. Poor playing calling by the Cats and a terrible punt sets up Montreal for an easy victory. Although our offence moved the ball we need to improve our play selection in crucial situations. As far as punting goes its ridicules we can't find a punter who can improve our 33-yard average. Specialty teams in general are not improving under Erdman and have been one of our Achilles heel for to long.

I think that every team would choose to run the ball in that situation so that you can kill the clock. I think the question is, given our running game so far this year it was not an option.

But if they had thrown an incompletion someone would have complained because we did not run the ball in order to use up the clock.

If we had made a better punt, or if we had sacked Calvillo as we should have(on the bomb play to Cahoon) the offensive play calling late wouldn't even be a topic of conversation right now.

Sure it would. The game was tied and we needed to score. I wouldn’t have wanted to match offenses in overtime.

Lets give credit where credit is due. This offence is improving under Joe Poapoa. You can call all the plays on the field you want. Cavillo made a great read on a broken play, throwing across his body, to Cahoon on a makeshift route and they beat us. They made a few big offensive and defensive plays - so did we. Great players make great plays at big moments. We have lost four games by less than 20 points total. I am a Ti-cats fan for the long ride. For the first time in years, I am excited about the future of this football team. Holmes is a special talent. Maas and Eakin always leave it on the field. Our wins will come.
