1. Onrea Jones - I could see Austin leaving Jones unprotected, although I’d be locking him up as he is a very versatile player. The type of player Ottawa would probably be going for. If Austin does protect him, I’m guessing Ottawa would go for Simoni Lawrence.

2. Peter Dyakowski - I know, most people expect that all teams will end up protecting their o-lines, but Hamilton has depth there, and they have a lot of non-imports elsewhere who I feel need to be protected more, at positions with less NI depth.

3. Carl-Olivier Primé - By the second non-import round, all the starters and primary backups will have been protected, so Ottawa will be using this round to pick up prospects.

I really like Onrea Jones and is one of the most underated Receivers the last two years. After being an NFL TC/ PR Journey man since '07 he made a great transition to the CFL in 2012. He is 30 but did not play in a game in the NFL and not a pro game until last year 2012 in Hamilton. would be the guy from Hamilton I would take if unprotected.

Protecting rookies Plesius and Stephan as well as giguere may just leave DYA available.
Loaded with young Canadian Draft picks Prime could be still left unprotected in the second Canadian draft round and could be a starter very quickly in this league but Hamilton already has plesius and you can’t protect everyone.

I would love to see the day if Gaydosh returns soon with the Canadian rookies Hazime and Atkinson from the Dline this year as well as Gascon-Nadon all rookies this year all with great University resumes to go with a still Young Bulcke

All reports I have heard is that Butler wants to be back in Green and White. The closer to home thing is just speculation, I have never heard that coming from him.

That’s good news. Butler continues to improve and could really be a staple on defense.

That could be the problem with Butler he most likely does want to be will they be able to re sign him. he really broke out this year and at Will LB. Not many Canadian starting Will LBs out there. he may still be listed as a safety but being a small big hitter gets him into a Will LB spot as well. Like Herbert in Montreal except Butler is younger and Canadian

I really liked the way that Stephanson played near the end of the 2012 season in Hamilton. Cortez finally got him involved in the offense as a TE and turned out to be a good receiving weapon as well for the last few games.
He could barely get on the roster in Saskatchewan they just got so deep at that position. McHenry started out the year on fire playing like an H-Back, then Hughes came back and they had the rookie from MAC Spencer Moore at 6’4" ideal TE.
Stephanson also a great blocker and Special teams player he could really be valuable to Ottawa especially as an extra blocking TE who can catch and run after the catch.

Stephenson had two great tackles on special teams in the grey cup.

Woldu will probably be left unprotected and unsigned and probably untouched by Ottawa with him probably wanting to return and sign with the Riders.
I Mentioned before that Stephanson who I really like just may not be able to be protected with some othe FB/TE/H-Back/Special teams players that the Riders have.
