CALGARY — Demerio Houston is used to being a force on the defensive side of the ball, but he never had the chance to be the game’s only scorer for his Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
And the thing that killed this entire viewing experience for most of us was the realization that an in-game interview was more interesting than the game itself. TSN can thank their lucky stars that they can always count on Kate Beirness and the CFL Panel to keep a ‘Meh’ experience from getting any ‘Maier’.
Did Buck Pierce in the offensive booth have a case of food poisoning or was it give the ball mostly to the unknown players to test their preparedness for future games? See if we can win with a hand tied behind our backs and just run our big guy.
Thts a lot to cry about… Really though - there were a LOT a WHOLE LOT of dropped passes right in receivers hands for the Stamps last night. Even the normally sure handed Hakunavanhu dropped a few including one that may have scored.
Dickenson saw what I saw last night - Calgary should have won but kept shooting themselves in the foot.
I think we have a problem Houston, our flying Bombers would have lost without your key interception, which demonstrates that without our great leader, we too can be inept and colourless.
I agree. It was shocking to see how wide open some Stamp receivers were, have the ball delivered perfectly, as in served on a silver platter, and the receivers would still drop the ball. Crazy!
The Bombers were very lucky last night. I counted 4 fumbles and wouldn’t you know it, a bomber player nearby was able to pounce on the ball and avoid the
the turnover every time. The Stamps made just one critical error which resulted in the pick-six. Otherwise it would have been no TDs for the Bombers. And that is accomplishing alot.
Bottom line? It was Calgary’s game to win or lose. To lose by a single point? Ouch!
Montreal is going to be a stiff test, especially if Zach isn’t 100%. Should be a good game. I still think Dru Brown could be the future, if not for us another franchise. Played well off the bench last week, and didn’t make any big mistakes against a staunch Calgary Defence this week. With Another week of practice, I think the deep ball will start clicking for him.
We are in a good spot. BC will be challenging us all the way down the stretch so no reason to get complacent. We can win with our Backup QB. Defence played solid. Special teams should rebound soon.
On a happier note, I thought that Dustball behaved himself quite well last night. He didn’t lose his composure, and was actually informative. I have opined before that Dustbunny tends to bring out the worst in whomever works with him. It may be that pairing him with Duane Forde is the secret. Apparently, Forde refuses to allow the young screamer to get to him, and an actual play-by-play occurs.
Either that, or neither team gave him anything to scream about.
