PGA Tour vs LIV Golf

No great surprise here in that the Saudi Investment Fund has made a major investment in the European Ladies Tour. Some of you may recall that they basically saved the tour from folding a few years ago. This is part of the bigger picture greater than LIV and as the article says, the Saudi fund is heavily invested in tennis as well.

Like it or not they are here to stay and LIV and the PGA need to reach an agreement yesterday. Who would have thought that money could have such an influence on professional sports? :slightly_smiling_face:

(You have to scroll past the short first article on Mack Hughes as it won’t post otherwise)

Care to interject with exactly what type of influence money could have on professional sports? Just thinking of types along the lines of positive, negative, neutral, evil, godly, developmental etc. you name it.

I was being sarcastic. Everywhere, anywhere all day long. It’s nice to think of the competitiveness of sport, but it’s really all about money. Even now at the NCAA level. Free agents go where the money is- LIV a great example. Money buys you championships- see pre salary cap sports leagues and present MLB. Players hock products and sign paraphernalia, both on line and in person, for money. Female athletes such as in tennis complain they aren’t paid as much as male athletes. Every logo’ed piece of clothing or hat or sweatband or golf bag they wear pays them money as does every ad they appear in. Money is the essence of professional sports.
