Peterson sticking around for a couple more

Kamau Peterson enjoyed his best season as a professional and it appears the Edmonton Eskimos took notice.

According to the Edmonton Journal, Peterson has signed a two-year extension with the Eskimos as they prepare for Saturday's East Final.

"I've known where I wanted to be all the way through this last year," Peterson told the Journal. "It was just a matter of getting it done. I'm definitely glad that I have."

The 30-year-old veteran receiver surpassed the 100-catch plateau for the first time in his career, setting a new personal mark with 1,315 yards. He also caught four touchdown passes.

While the deal is for two more years, Peterson would like to finish his career with the Eskimos, a franchise of which he speaks highly.

"It's no secret I'm very happy where I am, love the organization and how they've been for me individually," Peterson told the Gazette. "I'd love to finish my career here; that would be great."

Great news. Glad to have him sticking around. I honestly think we have one of the best receiving corps in the league. We have Peterson and Campbell leading the pack with Stamps and Mann backing them up.

agreed, hands down we have the best receiving corps in the league, Peterson, Campbell, Stamps, Mann
and hopefully, Tucker will come back and play.

esks fans .hold you're heads high .....4th place crossover team comes in & gets real close .....good game by the al's

with all due respect to Eskimosrock ,,, can't see tucker playing again......to end up paralysed for life for a stupid game???
not worth it ..we all (edmonton) wish him the best in his future outside of football & all of edmonton & eskimos team mates will miss him .
thanks for the great years tuck  :rockin: :rockin:

great year for peterson...glad he's sticking around...he may not be the most talented player in the league but this year he played with tons or heart....... something the rest of the team has been lacking .......good to see esks make the playoffs ...should have beat the al's ....an esks /stamps grey cup would have been awesome 'cept the esks would not have beat them for the cup im afraid......great year esks see you next season..............esks will finish first in the west next year...... :rockin: :rockin:

Yeah, I don't know if I see Tucker coming back, either. I'd rather see him take care of his health.

The good thing about Peterson is he did what he was supposed to do. After Tucker went down, he was our numer 1 guy, and he stepped up and took the role on with no issue.

More good news for Peterson...

MONTREAL - Edmonton Eskimos slotback Kamau Peterson has captured his first-ever CFL top Canadian award.

Peterson received the honour Thursday night at the league's awards banquet. Montreal Alouettes slotback Ben Cahoon, a two-time top Canadian recipient, was the finalist.

Voting for the award was conducted by the Football Reporters of Canada as well as the eight CFL head coaches.

Peterson became a go-to receiver for Edmonton's Ricky Ray, finishing with 101 catches for 1,317 yards and four touchdowns. The eight-year veteran also stepped up for the Eskimos after veteran Jason Tucker suffered a season-ending neck injury in August.
