Week 15 CFL picks

Perry Lefko October 9, 2009

an excerpt...

Winnipeg (5-8) at Hamilton (6-7):

Yes, the Bombers are on a roll. They have found some life on offence
to help the defence, which has been solid for most of the year.

Michael Bishop is starting to emerge as a leader
on the team and he has some decent receivers now,

notwithstanding they are still dropping balls.

But the Tiger-Cats' defence is strong, much better than
the one the Bombers faced last week against Edmonton.

I'd like to see Winnipeg try to run the ball with Fred Reid.

The Ticats have run hot and cold the last few weeks,
but are now on a two-game slide. This is gut-check time.

Quarterback Quinton Porter needs to be more in control of the situation.

I like when he runs the ball, but it's his passing that is the issue.

And what has become of DeAndre' Cobb?

The Cats need to get that running game going
to alleviate the pressure on the passing game.

We recall the last time these teams met

and how Kevin Glenn proved to be
the hero against his former team.

I wouldn't be surprised if Glenn is in the game again.

The difference is, the Bombers are a much improved team
from the one the Cats played in Steeltown weeks ago

and Hamilton seems to have hit a bump in the road.

The key here could be the kicking game.

Winnipeg is solid with punter Mike Renaud and kicker
Alexis Serna, who has rebounded big time from last year.

Something is amiss with punter/kicker Nick Setta.

He is either injured or in a terrible mental slump.

Kicking may ultimately make the difference in this game.

Randy has Cats by 6½. Does any team actually win by half a point?

Winner: Winnipeg (hey, the Blue came through for me last week)

Record last week: 3-1

Record to date: 35-17 (best in the land).

Record picking Winnipeg: Not bad of late.

8) Perry makes some very good points there, that's for sure !!

Bit of a stretch, Perry.

Bummer's so-called "improvement" lately came at the expense of a Argo off. that cant score and an Esk team who's off. was in dissaray along side a weak defense and still both games were in doubt in the 4th. Two def.starters scratched tomorrow to boot.

Win turnover battle and no ST breakdowns and the Cats will just fine, thanks.

Teams are shutting down the running game more now as they realize our passing game isn't what it should be and they don't have to worry about it as much. We need to be able to stretch the defense more with some Geroy Simon type plays but the Cats can't seem to do this or try it.

Garbage.
Cats try and stretch the def. with Bruce practically every game. Long plays won the home game vs. Cal. A long play to Bruce for the win just missed last week. Instrumental in the home win vs. Tor. aswell.

True enough Zontar as you say will admit thinking about it.

Terry Caulley is is chomping at the bit ready to do his Fred Reid imitation,
if Marcel gives him enough time as a RB to get rolling on Monday, Earl.

I'm sure Prechae would love some long balls thrown to him, Earl,
especially since the double teams are on Arland Bruce's side now.

Lefko is picking the Bombers? that's too bad I thought we would actually win this game and open up the 4 point lead.
Now we'll be tied with them - doesn't look good.

Does it go a little like: " I'm the best RB in the league HANDS DOWN! I'm gunna run wild on the terrible defences of the CFL, if the NFL would just look my way i'd out perform Adrian Peterson in a heartbeat! Blah blah blah blah blah"

That boy does not believe in modesty, that's for sure

If the cats lose to Peg we would be tied in the standings, that would be called a dramatic CFL playoff, that is what the league is looking for, what a joke. Look for anything to happen.

As Much as Pains me I am Taking The Peg too
I just feel we have some questions can Porter get off to quick Start or Well he Stumble as Normal.
Can we Keep our QB UpRight
Can Nick Regain his Fourm and Start kicking Well
Can we stop The Bombers Running Game

I think the Answer will be no ..

Please God Make me Wrong ... :frowning:

You don't think that MLB didn't like that playoff between the Tigers and Twins? Extra money, darn right they looking for that to happen.

yOU SHOULD BE SHOT AND PISSED ON ..... WOW you call yourself a fan and have
your own weak ticat site ,and you come on here saying you take The peg ....Shame on you man . You only ever vote for another team unless your team had been eliminated ....Shame on you if you had any friends on here before this comment !!!!! You may not have any now ...
OnKnight is a trader

How about Winnipeg's question marks?

Will Bishop retain his two good games or go back to his average of 4 picks a game?

Will Winnipegs slow offence be able to penetrate the very strong Ticat D?

Will the Bombers be able to contain Bruce?

Will Winnipeg put the 3rd loss on the Cat's at home?

My answer is we will see the Bishop of old, no to the rest.

8) Are you insinuating that a fix might be in for this game ??

Hay I would never suggest that.

Were not going to give them the opportunity to keep this game close ..
Monday will be the new start of the Hamilton Tigercat's ..
New play's and different play calling ...

Go Cat's Go

I said I hope I am wrong

We have Good Record at Home so we have a Shot.
But I am worried about winnpeg.
Porter gas a History of Slow Starts
The Peg has good Defence a Great Running Game.
The Ticats Run D is Soft..

I Hope we kick there ass but it will be a Close game

Well we had SSK peel Toronto off our backs last night but we'll have to peel Winnipeg off ourselves. Even if we lose this game, the last reg. season game is against them and they have TOUGH opponent's up until then, so they may have the same record and we'd have a chance to go 2-1 against them.

You Make some Great Points but Porter has get the Ball to Bruce
He’ll be Double and Trippled Covered…
Porter can’t read The Defences at this point .
Will hang on to ball too long Alowing the bombers to Sack him or He’ll run.
