Penalties per game same in the NFL as CFL Yet CFL gets hate

Cfl an average of 18 in 2013

Nfl also goes from 13-18 over the last 5 seasons But a difference of none to five penalties really doesnt take that long

And if you dont know what average means NFL also has games with tonnes of penalties and is pretty much the same as the CFL.

People just dont notice it as much because the NFL probably hides them behind NFL FILMS style replays all game lol.

This flag argument against the CFL is ridiculous tho to be saying the riders and Lions game was a bad game because of penalties when in fact it was one of the greatest games of all time. I didnt even notice the flags

Bingo, Bingo, Bingo! I didn't notice the flags either compared with any other game of football in whatever league. Flags, penalties get called in football, the way it is and will be forever. Some games have more than others. Wow, what a revelation! :o :P

I tend not to notice the bad calls as much when my team wins too.

..."one of the greatest games of all time....?

NFL was 13 last year.

It's because the NFL is the most successful, most wonderful, terrific, popular and richest sports league in North America. 98% of the sports writers and editors in Canada follow and adore the NFL more than any other league in history, probably even more than the NHL (except the fact the NHL season runs 10 months while the NFL season is over in a quick 7 months but perhaps should run all year like the MLS?)

In what world is 13/18 the SAME as 32?

There are about TWICE as many penalties in a CFL game on average through 3 weeks this season compared to NFL 2014.

It also seems like the CFL refs take longer to get the penalty measured off.

...this is from the same marketing campaign as "Our Balls are Bigger" right?

Obviously there is more to measure...

:)

I didn't mean it that way and I wasn't trying to be funny. What I meant was, the refs seem to spend a lot more time (in the CFL) figuring out the call, getting the ball measured off and getting the next play started. Not sure if there are more officials in the NFL but it all seems to be done more quickly.

This isa totally untrue.. NFL teams almost never get over 100 yards in penalties.. Games tend to have around 100-150 yards combined.. In the CFL, penalty yards are usually around 200-250 combined.

Here is an excellent comparison...
Basicly the single biggest difference between leagues is penalties.. Thus gap has only widened in the last two years

Yes last year. And over the past five years nfl has been at 18 which the cfl was at in 2013

I looked it up buddy.

In 2013 CFL was 18 per game

NFL was there as well between 13-18 over the past 5 seasons

It widened in the early part of the season with tonnes of new rules.

Point was in the past 5 season NFL has been on par with CFL in 2013 which has 18 a game

On Sportsline tonight, they said we have average 28 penalties per game this year. Yikes!!!

2004 had 25 flags a game higher than this year

Yet i didnt see the 30,000+ several games or the 55,000 at the western final i was at at bc place complaining with casey printers and dave dickenson

People always looking for some way to dog the cfl yet flags were down in 2013 to 18 per and higher in 2004 than last season

Doesnt bother me

It just slows down the game.

Theres about 125 plays per nfl game

And 165 plays per cfl game theres your extra penalties. It would be impossible to reach NFL flags per game yet they came really close in 2013
