PEG CHANGES- Many Needed

PEG certainly needs some changes for sure- But no worries because with the right GM and COACH with an offensive mind, PEG can turn this around and be a great franchise--

I find like HAMILTON its clear that PEG has a losing culture- Some players are good on defense, some are ok on offense, but what is needed is smart coaches with a solid GM--

I like the CFL and all the teams--

JOE MACK must go- Im not too sure about him personally- but I believe he is likely one of the worst GMS in the league- He needs to leave--
BURKE- He is a D coordinator and thats it- he looks frustrated, a lot like KAVIS REED- CFL is an offensive league- These guys cannot cut it in the CFL- Both REED and BURKE will be fired by end of season- They have no idea how to manage a game- Reed last night end of game, and today BURKE with the gamble on 3rd and 2 where Golz was sacked trying to run for it-

Pierce- Release him- He is too small to play in the CFL- Goltz showed much more promise than PIERCE ever showed-

Javon Johnson- Completely finished- not sure why he was ever returing punts considering he has no SPEED--

RENAUD_ He is not a PRO PUNTER- He cannot angle the punts out of bounds and has no touch-
PALARDY- There are better kickers out there--

I think the bombers need to attract one of the young offensive guys like DAVE DICKESON and try to lure him to be the coach- MAYBE offer CHRIS JONES the GM and Head coach job- CHRIS JONES is well connected in the states, so he would be able to find the talent from the southeastern part of the states- Last year in Toronto JOnes brought in some awesome defenders-

Once the management is changed, then the results will change- Peg has a losing culture becasue the GM and coaches are not that smart- You can see it with the 2nd halves where they are completely outplayed---

The players are not the issue in PEG, its the coaching- Creehan also is garbage- He was in HAMILTON last season and their D was the worst I have ever seen- Burke is much better than CREEHAN at defense--

Positives- SIMPSON runs hard and never quits, I like his motor and he is a good player-
THE D LIne is very good- No issues here--

Etienne and Kohlert are improving and I like them both- Both are good players who can catch nicely ---

Being from BC, 1 player who I personally feel is the worst player or defender in the entire CFL is CAUCHY MUAMBA- I used to watch him carefully in BC- He is terrible,- He takes bad angles , he cannot tackle, witness early on the deep ball to Hawthorne, terrible angle by MUAMBA and then he cannot tackle the guy, he looks like he is WRESTLING with the receiver when trying to tackle him, he looks so awkward trying to tackle, he has no fundamentals, he is not a football player at all- BC KNEW THIS--

GOLTZ is good, he has the size and mobility, he is not scared to stay in there- work with him--

The main issue is that the games are pretty much OVER before they start becaus WINNIPEG is badly outcoached by most teams in the CFL- other teams have smart coaches- WINNIPEG does not- Its clear as day-

BO LEVI is good, dont get me wrong, but he may have loooked like the best QB in the CFL history tonight- Creehan is clueless, that much is clear, they run the same plays and CREEHAN does not know how to adjust.

Lapolice was by far a better coach then the idiots we have now. Of coarse Mack used him as a scapegoat to save his own ass. I agree with going after dickerson. Also Goltz has potential but without a good coach or a mentor well its hard to advance your skills. But with the dumb and dumbers on the board we haven’t got a pray.

Can't argue with much of what you say. I might view things a little differently - but those are just opinions.

One thing I feel strong about is that this is a top down problem. The players look frustrated - likely because they don't believe in the system being presented...

MACK has not built a winning culture here in Winnipeg. Matter of fact - he has built a really bad losing culture that is obscured by a 2011 season that saw us at the Grey Cup. THAT WAS NOT A GOOD YEAR FOR MOST TEAMS THAT MAKE It THAT FAR (10/8)! We backed our way into that Grey Cup, and had little reason to actually be there! (just my opinion)

Also I would strongly consider getting rid of the following players--

Issac Anderson- His 2 drops late in the game in the 4th qtr suggest to me that he could care less about catching the ball- He is not cutting it and needs to be replaced-

Terrence Edwards- Not a #1 or even a #2 receiver- He is injury prone and is not dominant anymore-

Javon JOhnson- He is clearly past his expiry date- He gets beat routinely-

Cauchy Muamba- The worst safety in the CFL by a mile- Cant tackle, cant read the plays, cant intercept the ball-

I wouldn't make any changes, ride it out to the bitter end, get the first pick in the draft. Clean house at the end of the season from Mack to the waterboy.

I suppose if you wanted to salvage the season you could replace Crowton with anyone with some CFL experience as an offensive position coach. I'd also look at beefing up the defence at the tackles and linebacker positions and get a little size and physicalness in the secondary. But it's all going to change next year anyway so I don't see the point.

It may be beneficial for a new regime to take over mid season , so they can properly assess what needs to be addressed ,try and fix this mess. Instead of wasting most of next season getting organized. This season is a write off, nothing to lose by cleaning house. As of right now, we do not have the talent to compete ! I do like Burke, but coaching is a result driven profession and there is not even a hint of things going in the right direction. We may get beat by 50 in BC !

Only change that needs to be made is bringing back the wonderful Jonathon Hefney!

....Mack refuses to sign or augment any positions through free agency... Not a worthwhile signing have I seen using free agency...We've lost some real good ones but unfortunately have seen very little coming the other way...Big weakness in my estimation BUT we probably won't have to worry about that at the end of the year anymore ,as the writing is clearly on the wall for Mr. Mack if this mess continues :expressionless: Also send Jovon packing...he's done... tired of looking at him in the chase position..might as well give future prospects a look..Sears and Poblah better get well in a hurry and stay well or they could be gone as well... :thdn:

I wouldn’t be so sure that Mack is gone with the board etc we have now. Mack may weasel his way and blame someone else.

The biggest thing you heard from Burke after the game was how they couldn't cover and tackle. Well if that's the case then your players just aren't good enough compared to your opposition. Get new players.

So what's happened? In the first 3 weeks, the tackling was good. Anytime there was a completion, there was very little YAC. Guys were swarming to the ball. If one guy missed, the receiver didn't get much further before the next guy got him.

Tackling is one thing, but the coverage has been dreadful all season. The worst passing attack against the Blue has been courtesy the mess that is Calvillo and the Als 2013 edition. Since then, Burris has gone 26/32, Ray 19/20 and the Argos a combined 23/26, and Mitchell 29/33, a whopping 86% completion rate, not to mention the yardage that came with that. It doesn’t matter how good you tackle, if you’re going to let teams complete almost 9/10 passes thrown, even if they are for 5 or 6 yards at a time, you’re letting that offense march all over you and you’re not going to win games.

Collaros having a dynamite game vs BC. Plus Argos have got Trevor Harris. Willy and Mitchell having an impact this week also. I’m not sure any of those guys will be traded before the season ends but knowing that Ottawa will have a good chance of picking up more than one of these guys in the expansion draft, I’d make a strong push to get one of those guys once the Grey Cup is over. We’ve got 2 Dlineman in NFL camps right now Mulamba and Bilukidi. Max Hall may get the start vs BC, I’d wager on Goltz and or him getting more playing time as the season progresses regardless if Buck returns as the starter. If neither of them can show anything the rest of the way I’d strongly consider using Bilukidi as trade bait as I doubt he’s coming up anytime soon. Might as well leverage him into someone who can help us now.

It's funny how all the other teams QB back ups are playing so well but we can't find a QB. Thanks Mack for doing such a good job!

Winnipeg has the worst QB scouting I have ever seen--

They seem to like BIG strong PROTYPE NFL QBS like ALEX BRINK, Joey EILLOT, GOLZ, MICHEAL BISHOP--

Winnipeg scouting does not know how to find a good QB-- They are bringing in guys who are too big and too much like a NFL QB- ARM strength is not everything--

THey need to bring in playmaker QBS-

I thought Goltz did not look all that fast and seemed awkward at certain times in the pocket. He still has a ways to go, but we need to give somebody a shot other than Buck.

Another issue, is not having confidence in Palardy outside of 40. They passed over a 42 yard FG and gambled at a crucial part of the game vs Cgy because of it. The wind was not that much of a issue. Anything inside 50 has to be attempted or get a stronger leg in here !

I don’t think they or most fans liked Michael Bishop, Mike Kelly liked Bishop and only after the other guys had flopped. Elliott a prototypical NFL QB with arm strength? Did you not watch him play? Most of his deep balls were behind/short of his receivers and wobbled like wounded ducks so I’m not sure what you mean by arm strength.

There’s been a failure with the QBs, for sure. The problem I think lies in the fact they haven’t had the right coaching staff and veteran leadership to properly develop them. Look at the teams with the best backups right now. Collaros and Harris in Toronto played behind Ray and Jarious Jackson and have a former QB in Milanovich to coach them up. It doesn’t hurt that receivers coach Jason Maas is a former QB himself that can help them out as well. Calgary has Michell working behind Glenn, and two former QBs in Dickenson and Hufnagel as coaches. Drew Willy in Regina has Khari Jones as his QB coach. Meanwhile Lapo was hired for his offensive expertise and on TV he talks about how he let the backups run scout teams and would keep in touch with the backups once or twice a season to see how things are going. That evidently was his way of coaching up a young guy. And now we have Gary Crowton. How can he possibly teach a young QB to be a competent starting CFL QB, to read defenses and execute offensively when he himself still hasn’t figured out how to run a CFL offense and read/adjust to CFL defenses? You can have all the talent in the world but if you don’t have the right personnel to work with them then you’re just spinning your tires in wet mud. Some of that failure lies at Joe Macks feet for not having the proper coaches around, some of that lies at the feet of the bomber board who have put in place budget restrictions which made it difficult to impossible for them to find a proper QB coach in the offseason. Now that we have a mess on our hands, the decision is to look for an outside consultant for advice.

Agreed. Confidence in Palardy has been wishy washy his entire time here with them not trusting him with some longer distance kicks at times. He made improvements last year but he still has the knack for missing what should be a gimme too often which may be why they haven’t trusted him as often on the 40 plus yarders. There’s really 3 elite guys this year - Paredes, Milo, and White. He’s in that second group of kickers that are pretty decent and I’d rather have him than Grant Shaw, Prefontaine, or Congi they way they are playing right now.

Excellent analysis, wolverine.

And something that Winnipeg fans have been clambering about for some time, I second madjacks sentiment, good analysis.

Can’t argue with anything here. I think you’ve nailed it Wolverine
