Lol...literally! A long day and a drive home through a blizzard. You just made my day!!!Thanks!!!

Is the Big O still a serviceable stadium?

The Big O's current roof is not deemed to be safe if more than 3 cm of snow is forecast. Therefore it is not really used November through into March.

What I find remarkable is that the Argos led the entire league in attendance year after year throughout most of the 70's and second only to Montreal after the opening of Olympic Stadium in '77...all this despite having the worst record of futility during that time span and a Grey Cup drought that lasted 31 years.

The Argos were not only the best supported team in the 70's but also the worst on field team of the 70's.
Torontonians certainly loved and embraced the Argos and the CFL back then....sigh..

1972 33,054 (3-11) last place
1973 33,135 (7-5-2) 2nd place
1974 33,248 (6-9-1) last place
1975 37,881 (5-10-1) last place
1976 47,356 (7-8-1) last place
1977 46,881 (6-10) 3rd place
1978 46,432 (4-12) last place
1979 40,045 (5-11) last place
1980 37,982 (6-10) last place
1981 33,219 (2-14) last place

Indeed. After 1981 the team turned around on the field and attendance increased towards somewhere below 40,000, but after '83 steadily declined until they moved to SkyDome where attendance again increased into the 30,000 range until 1993. You can point to a list of things that killed the Argos attendance at the time:

(1) Blue Jays World Series
(2) Bills 4 AFC championships in a row
(3) Collapse of McNall ownership group
(4) 6-12 in '92 and 3-15 in '93
(5) Letting Dunigan go for Foggie (tied to #4)
