In an interview with Joey Alfieri today on TSN 690, Danny Maciocia did not disagree when Alfieri wondered if the team could use some more speed at receiver. Maciocia said both Rashad Ross and Reggie White could potentially stretch the defense if they are able to get onto the roster.
Unlike what happens during games, receivers on the team apparently rarely drop passes in practice.
Although the linebackers do not stand out on the stat sheet, Maciocia said he is satisfied with their play and attributes the lack of numbers to the defensive scheme.
Regarding Shea Patterson: Maciocia said he can make things happen when flushed out of the pocket, can make every throw, has previously played in big games, and comes highly recommended from both Tom Gamble and Jim Harbaugh.
From Herb Zurkowsky:
“I do feel like we’re very close,” (Khari) Jones said. “I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t believe it. We’re close to being a really good team. We just have to come through in some of these close games. Every game we lost was close at one point. There’s a little something that doesn’t get us over that hump, but we’ll get there.”
“As a team, we have to work on being able to bounce back from negative situations,” Jones said. “I’m still working to figure out our make-up as a team; make sure we’re strong enough to fight back and keep fighting. That was one of the cornerstones of our team in 2019. I knew we’d come back, put up a fight and, a lot of times, come out victorious. I want this team to feel more comfortable in tight games.”
