re: Glenn trying to hit Arland Bruce deep, despite the fact
the Cats only needed 20 or so yards for a field goal try.
I was as disappointed as anyone else when Kevin threw
that long incompletion which ended our scoring chances
and I wondered whether the O.C. called for a long pass
so I took a look at the play again on T.V. to see
whether the short receivers were covered
I couldn’t see them on the T.V. screen but
Marcel Bellefeuille has the game film to break down
and his conclusion is that Kevin made the right throw.
Our Offensive Co-ordinator, Mike Gibson, called a short passing play
but our primary receiver and our secondary receiver were covered
and Kevin saw Arland Bruce was open downfield
but unforunately he didn’t get the ball to him.
"That was his progression. They covered read one and read two and
to Kevin’s credit he got to read three. They actually blew a coverage but
unfortunately we didn’t convert. It was a good decision
– had we made the play, it would have been a touchdown
and we wouldn’t even be talking about the field goal team," he explained.
