Our D-fence

Not sure that injuries (Hinds, Collins, Ray, Peach, Beswick) and last minute retirements (Forbes) can really be called neglect.

The d-line looked like it was getting pretty good pressure on Lulay on Friday, although they let him get outside too many times. (And which defence doesn’t?) And I was impressed with our DBs as well; Bucknor and Young seemed able to go step-for-step with Simon and Bruce, Smith and Tisdale were invisible - in a good way - and Webb put some good hits on receivers.

One thing I noticed was our defensive ends lost containment on numerous plays allowing the play to get outside. I was not impressed with either Johnson or Knowlton. Rey Williams had a great game. I don't think our LB's are as good as everyone believes. Again, the game is won or lost in the trenches.

We all like Hinds but he sure spends a lot of time in sickbay, fine lads.

The DBs have to get on the jugs gun because they're dropping too many intercepts. The ends still don't contain and Webb continues to be a non factor at safety. I didn't appreciate Garney and Bennett as much as I do now.

In conclusion, it looks like the players are buying into Creehan's defensive scheme and expect things to improve.
Hope they are right. There is nothing about Creehan I have seen so far that I like. No freelancing allowed in his scheme....and we don't seem too keen on getting to the QB.
I'm heading down to a practice or two soon so maybe I'll feel a little better about things after that.
