Odds are the play you’re thinking about actually was onside. They don’t mess up that call very often.
Is there a CFL comparison historically of Brett Favre or John Elway? My CFL timeline only goes back to 2009.
Cato tried to be Brett Favre on that play on which he rolled right towards the sideline and lofted one into the middle. He did not even strong-arm it as would have Favre (usually intercepted) or Elway (usually completed). That was awful!
Much like Nichols last night, it’s boneheaded plays like that lose close games. Just get rid of it when you don’t have a play damnit.
To be fair, young Cato has a long way to go before he approaches the boneheadedness of the veteran Nichols. 8)

I agree. We too often forget that the centre need only have begun to move the ball back to make it OK to cross the line of scrimmage; as it happens in the middle of the line it is hard to notice.

I refuse to yell the team name. I’ll yell my own team’s name, but not an opponent’s.
I also feel that using “Redblacks” satisfies the reason the team gave for wanting the media to use all uppercase, that they want to ensure the name is one word. “RedBlacks” would be incorrect, just as “RoughRiders” is incorrect.
CFL comparison to Brett Favre? I would say Henry Burris. Puts up good numbers, has had a good career, but is prone to the boneheaded play occasionally at the most inopportune times, hence the “Bad Hank” .
Cato is fresh out of college. He’s bound to make some mistakes, young guys get the adrenaline going and sometimes think they can force some of the throws on the bigger field. It’s part of the learning process. Nichols has been around a while. With vets it can be hard to figure out sometimes - are they just prone to making the occasional bad decision that hurts the team or are they so busy looking over their shoulder that maybe they are trying to hard to make the big play so they can keep their job?
A REDBLACK is a lumber jack don’t you know!! :lol: To be honest I still don’t like the name - Raftsmen or whatever the other choice was would have been better

This is one of those cases in which translating to the French and then from the French back to the English would be better.
I like the sound of the French or of “The Red and The Black of Ottawa” over REDBLACKS.
When I lived in Tampa Bay, I always liked the team’s unofficial name, “The Pewter and The Blood of Tampa Bay” over its official name the Buccaneers or its nickname the Bucs. I wonder how that unofficial name translates in French.

Cato's making plays for both sides to keep the score close. He's really helped Ottawa stay in the game.
