OTT @ MTL SEPT.1

Cohon was right. This organization is facing some critical times. It is obvious to any fan that it needs new ownership, facilities, new offices/synergy, a new outlook and a rebuild of the football ops.

Wetenhall was a great owner but he's much older, he does not wish to invest in hard assets for his business and frankly the league has changed, its gone from a 5 to 10 million dollar business to a 20 to 40 million dollar business.

If it wasn't for Mr. Wetenhall, there might no be any pro football in MTL and probably four less College program in Quebec. But there comes a point where you need to pass it on. At this point hanging onto it is dismantling everything he's built !

Agree with what you say, but there aint exactly 10 suitors knocking on his door. We dont even know if his sons want it.

Stay tuned.

If his son is going to run it the same way. He'd be better to let it go.
You don't need 10 buyers. You need ONE. Frankly he has very little to sell. Basically the franchise, the equipment and a bunch of leases.

I can't wait to see how we'll lose this week's game!!!

Seriously, though, one hallmark of a team that isn't good is the inability to win close games. Our three wins this year have all been blowouts or games in which we jumped out to leads early and just held serve through 60 minutes. ANY time we've been in a tight or tied score heading into the third or fourth quarter, we implode and lose. We can't come back from a deficit, we can't rally after adversity. We have zero ability to win when the chips are down. Which is the exact opposite of our Trestman-era championship teams -- even on days when we weren't playing particularly well, we were always a threat to put it together in the second half or fourth quarter and come back to win. A large part of that was halftime adjustments. Trestman and Milanovich rarely let themselves get hosed for a whole game. Us? Anthony is flying blind while Fake Coach Popp stands on the sidelines looking concerned and waiting for Kavis to tell him when to throw a challenge flag.

Herb Zurkowsky says Corbin Louks will take Duron Carter's receiver spot against Ottawa. Als only had 1 practice after the announcement, so there was not enough time to consider Cody Hoffman.

Raymon Taylor is expected to take Carter's place on the 44 man roster. Taylor and Brandon Rutley were the scratches in the previous game against the Bombers.

Agreed 100%

LEAGUE GAME NOTES

-In their last game against the Bombers, the Als' average starting field position was their own 35. The Bombers started at their 51.

-Boris Bede's average kickoff was 71.7 yards. Anthony Fera 64.9. Bede's average punt was 42.5 yards. Fera's average punt is 45.5 yard which is 3 yards more than Bede. However, the net punting average is slightly in favor of Bede: 34.9 to 34.8. Fera's specialty is field goals. Fera's field goal percentage is 75% which is better than only Richie Leone and Bede. Bede's field goal percentage is 43.8%.

-The Als defense last week held the Bombers to 305 yards and 16 first downs. Bombers captialized on the Als 6 turnovers with 16 points.

-Going into Thursday's game, both Jim Popp and Rick Campbell have exactly the same winning percentage as a head coach: .400

-A win by the Als would put all the teams in the Eastern Division with 4 wins a piece.

-Montreal and Ottawa has met 18 times during Labor Day weekend since 1949. Series is split 9-9. In addition, each team has scored a total of 368 points.

-Redlbacks have been outscored in the 4th quarter of each of their last 5 games by a total of 49-22.

-Als are still undefeated when leading at halftime and winless when trailing.

-Ernest Jackson has caught a touchdown in each of his last 4 games. Last player to catch touchdowns in 5 consecutive games was Eric Rogers in 2015.

-Redblacks have 4 receivers on pace for 1000 yards this season. If accomplished, they would match the 2004 & 2005 Alouettes receiving teams as the only ones to that in consecutive years.

-Bear Woods lead the CFL in Combined Defense and Defensive tackles. At his current pace, Woods would end up with 132 tackles which would be #2 all time for a single season. Record for most tackles in one season belongs to Solomon Elimimian in 2014 with 143.

-Als have moved up slightly in offensive productivity. That is the result of more yardage passing. Conversely, the rushing game is slightly less productive. Also contributing to the offensive improvement relative to the other teams is the offensive struggles by the Riders and Argos.

-Tyrell Sutton has 6 100-yard rushing games in his career. None against Ottawa. Considering the Als' rushing game being less effective & the Redblacks' defense leading the CFL in Rushing Yards Per Game, the chances of Sutton getting his first 100 yard game against the Redblacks seem slim.

-Redblacks' offense leads the CFL in Yards Per Game, Yards Per Play, Passing Yards Per Game, Yards Per Pass, and Completion Percentage.

-Als' defense is allowing a 71.5 Completion Rate which is 8th in the CFL.

-Als' defense is 9th is 2nd Down Conversions.

-On the plus side, the Als' defense leads the league in Red Zone TD Percentage.

-On offense, the Als are 9th in Time of Possession.

This is what I’ve been saying for weeks. We make it far too easy for enemy offenses to put together sustained drives that chew up the clock and keep our offense cold and on the sidelines. So a team puts together a 5-minute drive into our territory, we hold them to a field goal, and then our offense goes two and out and the D has to come back on the field. No wonder they’re gassed in the second half.

Buy a portable sauna for the offence to stay warm?

Ottawa is underwhelming ... and the Als are worse.

:(

-Another opening kickoff with a long return by the other team.
-Penalties by Ruby and Perrett.
-Big opportunity for Corbin Louks taking Carter's spot, but his missed let to an interception.
-Anthony Calvillo seems to not want any play calling input. Jacques Chapdelaine and the quarterbacks are together maybe 10 yards away.

Want another replay to see if the Ottawa Football Club DB got ahand on it. RDS replay was not great.

Would say here goes our first timeout ................ but this time it looks like he may have a shot.

EDIT: Buy LottoMax tickets JP, your luck is changing.

Fera is sooooo good he can play pool with converts ... bank off the left post and through.

Fera's kickoffs aren't that great.

Glenn hurt???

Good sign is that the Als are leading at halftime. This year, they are undefeated when that happens.

Patrick Lavoie interview at halftime with Didier:

Montreal isn't showing us anything different we have seen on video

Sad....

8 effing points in a half of football at home when you're already 1-4 at home, that's pathetic. :thdn: :thdn: :thdn:
