Only 30,185! What's that about?

Reminds me of last year's Argos @ TiCats semi. I thought for sure it would have been sold out, but it wasn't.

But we only had two weeks to sell tickets last year. Montreal clinched a home playoff game way back in mid-October.

I guess the CFR had an impact but I think the Eskimo PR staff should get it together. I hope this is not a trend, seeing that the Eskimos are the Flagship franchise of the CFL they need to set the example.

The Eskimos should work with the CFR people to hold the finals one week earlier and work with CFL schedulers to be away on the final week of the season. Simple solution.

First off... There is no way in hell there was 30 K there,,, Secondly.... Atleast there was more then the 14K announced in Calgary in 94 for the West Final when BC beat Calgary,"BC IS GOING TO THE GREY CUP"

It is no longer really true that we’re a football town anymore. NHL hockey has really solidified itself as the big attraction here, just look at the broad support giving a new Arena to Katz seems to have amongst politicians, bureaucrats and even the wider public it seems. Single-game prices have also risen too high in the last several years as overall attendance has declined from the mess of the Maciocia-Hall years, which IMO likely discourages walk-ups and encourages TV viewing.

There were 30k there, but with Edmonton its hard to gauge from looking at bums in seats because a good number of fans always seem to be in the concourses or they stand+watch from the walkways connecting the east and west sides. There is also the ‘tailgate’ tents on the field level in the endzone.

Hmm… a lot of self-righteous Eskimo fans that were whining about the hiring of ET were more than likely squirming that he has turned the team around somewhat… they took their money and went home… they are standing up for a so-called “principle”… really what they are spoiled little kids who took their money and went home when Tillman was hired… which could account for the some of the poor attendance…

Why would you go to all the regular season games and then sit out a playoff game to "protest" hiring a competitent GM?

That's just dumb. :stuck_out_tongue:

come on, really?

I could see perhaps if only 19,000 had shown up.

no this I can’t explain. I think perhaps the Eskimo fans have become like everyone else…

I thought Olympic stadium was pretty loud for whatever their count was. Wasn't nearly as loud as Canadinns stadium is going to be this Sunday though ... Go Blue :rockin:

See my last post there. TV is the future, through computers or cable, whatever.

Already there…While this is a gate driven league, they have to generate more alternate revenues going forward.

Lions are

that’s good news.

The Leos should have close to 50,000 by game time.

Hard to say with the Canucks taking on the Sens at 6:00 pm local time and the Vancouver Giants taking on Kootenay at 5:00 pm. There appears to be a lot of things on that day/night which may keep people away.

Jay Janower is a tool. Did anyone ask where he got the info from? In Jay’s eyes the Lions could be pushing 34,000 from 20,000

sucks that the Lions will out draw the Eskimos in a playoff game hey?

Here's the thread in the Lions forum...

If you are concerned with Jay's 34k number, then use the News 1130's 30k number from a couple days ago...

Here some facts about the NFL. I guess the notion that the NFL sell’s out every game is wrong. 2011 is shaping up to be even worse for them
Through nine weeks of the 2010 season, the NFL has already had 13 blackouts and is on pace to have 25 games not aired in the local market. That would surpass last season’s total of 22 and is up 150 percent from 2007 when the NFL had only 10 blackouts and set an attendance record with over 17.5 million fans.

In fact, attendance in the NFL is down for the fourth straight year.
