Through its long history, the CFL has developed a reputation as a door-opening league.
It’s where players like Herb Trawick, Bernie Custis, Johnny Bright, Condredge Holloway and Warren Moon, to name a few, all found opportunities to continue their careers when they encountered racially-motivated obstacles in the United States.
TORONTO — The Canadian Football League is thrilled to welcome nine participants to this year’s Diversity in Football Program presented by Securian Canada – a leading insurance provider of innovative, life-ready insurance solutions in Canada and the league’s official life insurance partner.
Diversity goes beyond including people of different races, it also includes people of different sexual orientations and gender. I totally agree with the CFL’s program to improve diversity in all aspects of our game. Given the situation recently revealed about what took place with the alleged sexual harassment of a female coach in Toronto, I would hope to see the CFL step up to ensure that the matter be dealt with in a swift and respectful manner for all involved. The CFL’s Diversity Program is being put to a real test.
