Official CFL Forum Code of Conduct

CFL Forum Code of Conduct

Our goal is to provide a safe and friendly environment where members can feel free to express their thoughts and opinions about the CFL and other topics without fear of ridicule, intimidation or bullying.

By posting on this site, you agree to abide by the Code of Conduct at all times. Failure to adhere to the Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action from the moderating team, as outlined in the Moderation Policy document.

Forum Rules

The activities below are explicitly prohibited on this forum. A member who engages in any of the following activities will face disciplinary action, which may include a warning, silencing, suspension, or even permanent ban, depending on the severity of the infraction. See the Moderating Policy document for more information.

1. Advertising or soliciting feedback for third-party sites.

This forum is not a place to advertise. If you want to promote a product of yours that you think is relevant to the majority of the forum membership, always contact the moderating team before posting. Unapproved posts of sales or advertising will be treated as spam.

2. Creating duplicate accounts.

Banned members who attempt to return to the forum under a different user name will be banned again. If we banned you, it was for a very good reason.

3. Failing to respect the “safe haven” rule for team forums.

If you are posting in a rival team’s forum, you are not allowed to trash-talk that team’s fans, particularly if that team has just lost a game. Trash-talk also includes dragging a topic out, endlessly arguing with rival fans, and other bad-faith behavior.

4. Going persistently off-topic.

We will not flag or take action for every off-topic post, but if you are routinely derailing threads or posting content where it is not supposed to be, you will face consequences, especially if you have been warned to stay on topic.

5. Linking to inappropriate content.

Do not link to anything that contains sexually explicit content, graphic violence (e.g. real-life murder, gory movie violence, rape) or hate speech.

6. Posting bigoted content, including but not limited to racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia

The CFL is committed to maintaining an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming environment for all members. We will not tolerate bigoted content of any kind.

7. Spreading misinformation

This forum is not a place for you to post conspiracy theories with no basis in fact or logic.

8. Threatening, intimidating, or harassing other members

This includes threatening to get CFL staff fired, sexually harassing other members, and threatening violence toward other members. It also includes repeatedly contacting moderators via private message after being warned not to do so, as well as flagging another member’s inoffensive posts purely because you dislike that member.

9. Trolling or mocking other members, including moderators and administrators

While we will not always agree on every topic, we have an obligation to treat each other with basic courtesy. In other words, disagreement is fine, but disrespect is not. Disrespect includes open and explicit attacks on other members as well as implicit references, veiled sarcasm, and innuendo.

10. Using profanity

This forum is not a place to swear.

Reporting Forum Content

If you think a post is in violation of the Code of Conduct, flag it so our moderating team can review the post and take appropriate action. If you have a problem with the actions of a specific moderator or administrator, please contact the entire moderating team or another moderator privately. We will listen to your concerns, and take action if we deem it necessary.

The Lounge

The Lounge operates according to the Rules described above, with one exception: discussion of politics and religion is allowed, since The Lounge is a place for any non-football topic of discussion. However, bigoted content and hate speech are still prohibited. For example, any religious discussion that contains homophobic content is not permitted.

Trolling Reminder

Do not feed trolls! There is nothing a troll loves more than someone who responds to their instigating. The best way to deal with trolls is to step away and flag the offending post(s). Let us take care of the troll.
