I know it's not a movie but Band of Brothers is fantastic. I wasn't as into The Pacific, though.
Letters from Iwo Jima was really good. Flags of Our Fathers was lame.
Blackhawk Down
Another vote for Saving Private Ryan and The Dirty Dozen.
I've heard Enemy at the Gates is supposed to be good, though I haven't seen it.
Ditto for All Quiet on the Western Front (new series on Netflix).
The Hurt Locker
Enemy at the Gates was good and gritty
Well there is this little known war movie based on a true story called "Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence" that starred none other than David Bowie as a British soldier that is captured and held in a Japanese POW camp in WW2 .
It's been years since I've seen it and I would highly recommend it to anybody . Although it didn't make my top # 10 list it certainly merits an honorable mention spot .
here was the official trailer for the movie...

For its special effects, I also give Midway a .
Anybody remember Force 10 From Navarone? A 1978 movie with Harrison Ford and Barbara Bach. I check it out every few years and always find it fun.
