Off Season Timewaster #1: Movies

Name your top two movies of all time.

I’ll go first.

  1. Casablanca (1942, Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman)

  2. The Best Years of our Lives (1946, Fredric March, Dana Andrews)

Ben Hur - Charlton Heston

and then it is a blur

“Days of heaven” 1978

“Dersu Uzala” 1975

A Few Good Men

Shawshank Redemption

One of my LEAST favourite movies of all time.

shouldn’t this be in the Least favorite movies topic

Oh well can not please them all.

In my top list.

The Godfather
The Godfather 2

Good choices.

Yup, can’t go wrong with these two great movies.

The Mission
Barfly

as in" he gets very barfly when he drinks"

I love threads like this.
There are no movies on here that I didn’t like. A few I haven’t seen. And a few I have seen repeatedly ( Shawshank and Godfather 1 and 2)

Barfly from PTO I had forgotten about but I loved that movie when it first came out. I wonder if it still holds up? The movie prompted me to read some of Charles Bukowski stuff.

Mine:
Nebraska
A River Runs Through It. ( I really enjoy Robert Redford as a director)

The latest version of A Star Is Born is up there too actually.

Some weird ones from Captain CFL:

  1. The Country Girl - 1953, Bing Crosby & Grace Kelly star, Kelly won an Academy Award for her riveting portrayal of Crosby’s wife.

  2. Always - most underrated Spielberg film from the 1990s. John Goodman stars, Audrey Hepburn’s last film. Re-make of “A Guy Named Joe”

Spielberg’s “Schindler’s List” is not a movie. Its an amazing and historical cinematic experience!

Darn good opening picks, I’ll say!

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington with James Stewart deserves attention, too!
