Odell under rated

Watching replays of the last 3 games, Odell has played great. Double teamed and the play call a lot of the time is away from Odell. He has not got the credit he deserves. He has had a lot of missed sacks where he spun off the QB or the QB has throw it away as he was dragged down. He hasn't even been the hotshot in the back field taking dumb penalties.

All in all very steady and reliable. Another "cast" off is Lobendahn who has been very steady in the middle.

I DON'T KNOW IF I ENTIRELY AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS ONE... LIKE YOU SAY, HE HAS BEEN GETTING A LOT OF PRESSURE, BUT I THINK CHAMBLIN WAS BANG ON THE MONEY WHEN HE SAID THAT IT IS TIME FOR ODELL TO START PLAYING SMARTER... FOR EVERY SACK, HE PROBLY HAS FIVE MISSSES. IF HE TRIED TO TACKLE THE QB INSTEAD OF KILL HIM AND GET ON THE HIGHLIGHT REEL, HIS NUMBERS WOULD LOOK A LOT BETTER. HALF A STEP IN ANY DIRECTION SEEMS TO ALL IT TAKES TO GET THIS GUY TO MISS.
TIME TO TURN THIS PENETRATION INTO PRODUCTION!

im not reading anything you post with caps lock dude

Willis has helped out our pass rush. He is getting the focus from the opposing team, which helps others out on D.

Good trade to pick him up. I think he has worked out well.

When the opposing QB gets a penalty for intentional grounding - I think that is as good as a sack. Not sure if those stats are kept by the league though.

Lobendahn is another really good pickup. He seems to be flying around and in most tackles. Since he has joined the D, the opposing teams rushing yards has dropped.

We still need some luck to happen for a home playoff game to occur. Maybe Winnipeg or Hamilton will pull out a win against the Stumps. :rockin:

Or maybe the stamps best the lions and the riders win the last game of the season…against the lions, end tied, but win the season series. The riders have a respectable chance at a home playoff game if they continue to win. They don’t have a great track record in Edmonton, so that is a good test

Playing smarter!!! I’m not sure about that as he has given some dumb penalties away  holding your hands in the air after hitting a QB late with a "butter wouldn’t melt in your mouth"look on your face ain’t going to fool CFL Officals(maybe south of the border  ).That said when he was called for the dumb penalty late in the game against the Ponies he nearly wiped out their QB on the next play. That is the intensity I want to see as this man is talented for sure.

Lobendahn has been a real find for our Coaching staff and that is also given me hope for the future.bringing in players that others see as “not required any more” instills a confidence we are on the right road both with players we have a nd the Coaches that are bringing them in.

He is under the radar a bit due to Head Coch Chamblain who runs a tight ship now in Saskatchewan. No mouthing off, no Swaggerville junk and when he began to be noticed it was because he was missing sacks do to trying to make highlight real Hits and Chamblain has let him know about it. Every player is treated the same way if you are not doing your job you are going to hear about it or you are going to lose your job. He was getting a lot of attention the first part of the season from O lines doubling him or getting extra help from the RB but since that has faded with others getting to the QB he will need to be a smarter pass rusher and make sure he wraps the QB as Coach has recently pointed out

Alex Smith is the best LB coach in the game period. Lobendahn was undoubtedly his decision. The Riders are always signing top notch LBs, and Smith has the experience in junior ranks to spot potential. That is often the difference between a good and great staffer. I am very happy that the organization has cemented Smith into growing roles with the club....like a bigger role with CIS draft. It is actually amazing he has never been given a go as a coordinator.

He certainly did a great job this season signing Import rookie kromah drafting Hurl and grooming NFL free agent brackenridge into the SAM spot. Adding Lobendahn was the icing on the cake. Shamorie Williams is playing so much better at weakside LB also.
Taman and Chamblain have proved that with so many good football players out their you can rebuild a team in on season to be a contender with good scouting and a well though out plan. They used all the resources out there NFL free agents Import rookies Canadian draft and both import and NI free agents.Chamblain has got to be coach of the year. The riders coming into the last 6 games are strong and deep in all three phase of the game

He has forced QBs to run and sometimes in to the arms of another Rider for the sack. He is usually down field too when a tackle is made, much like Hawkins was. I've been very impressed. I don't know when he gets a chance to catch his breath, he's always talking between plays.

I totally agree on the depth on this team. If you play for Chamblin as either a starter or back up, the players are interchangeable and push each other to be the starter.

After starting this thread I get to watch Odell miss some QB sacks that lead to first downs in Edmonton :expressionless:

Odell assume that when you rush the QBs, the book on you is to side step. Don't crush the QB just wrap him up and then crush him! Sacks are huge down the stretch!!
