F@#k I hate this team.

Solid synopsis. Nichols was terrible and has been trending down the last 3-4 weeks which is a big concern as we head to the playoffs. He needed to be pulled IMO, had way too much lead on the leash but it shouldn’t surprise me considering how much leeway Willy got earlier this season. Man that seems so long ago.

I have no problem with Smith. I just don’t get the offense. You sign two diminutive receivers in the offseason because they have speed to burn and are capable of being 1000 yard guys if they stayed healthy. The Riders were capable of using both guys to stretch the field. So how do we take advantage of that speed? We do double reverses 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage, quick outs, short to intermediate hook and curls and slants. We really could be sending one or the other streaking downfield on every other play and force the opposition safety to play deeper but instead we are shelving their best assets. We’re using our big bodies to go downfield to box out or out jump defenders and send our fast little guys inside to get killed. Secondly, Nichols is inferior to Durant. Durant has a nicer touch and is more capable at leading the receivers with his throws. Nichols has been off target a lot more lately, forcing receivers to break stride to hold up or come back to get underthrows or throw behinds. We’re losing out on YAC and exposing our receivers to big hits.

.....Right on with your take on Smith and Dressler, Wolverine...they have been misused all season and that's on Lapo..... Also it sounds like you're getting a little nervous regarding the play of soon to be free agent Nichols (only signed for this year)...I must admit I'm getting that same feeling...If he doesn't show better in the post season game(s) then we might be better off pursuing an fa ...I'm going to suggest Durant...Some might laugh because of his prior injuries (that would be a concern) but it sounds like there are rumblings out of Regina that he 'might' be prepared to move on... AND if Henry can play as well as he does at his age... Durant might be worth a look.??

....AND cudos to Do or Die for his take on the game...Always worth a read.

Everyone's take on the Twin Regina Smurfs (Dressler & Smith) is spot on.

I remember when Dressler first arrived in the league - he had what I would call 'just below sprinter's speed' and was used by Regina as a kick-returner. Never a burner but at least 4.6 to 4.7 speed - now he's probably still under 5 but barely, same with Smith.

That old Jet formation sweep has been in the bomber playbook for ages. Even guys like Maggot Kelly used it - same with Plop after he took over.

But handing it off to a smurf with non-burner speed is an invitation to disaster - plus, the super-jumbo bomber o-linemen aren't agile enough to get to their secondary blocks. Even Denmark has been asked to do this suicide sweep - just not fast enough, not enough secondary blocking. Lucky when they get back to the line of scrimmage. Waste of a play! :cowboy:
