Game started out looking like a potential Bombers romp though, then the Als D stiffened, allowing them to catch up and make a game of it. That game last week for the Als vs the Argos was an aberration though, Als are a better team and they played like it last night. However, the way the confidence the Bombers have when it's tight and the ability to make the plays when needed was really noticeable. For instance, when pinned deep in their zone in the fourth, Bombers were able to take 6 minutes off the board and drive for a field goal which was huge as the momentum had shifted to Montreal at that point. Alexander looked beat late by I think it was Ernest Jackson, but was able to close the gap and get a hand on the ball, taking away a potential winning TD. Randle with the pick in the 2nd OT session to essentially seal a win.

A few thoughts:

  • many said the Bombers D wouldn't be able to put up the kind of turnover numbers as last year, and they probably won't, but still quite effective at taking the ball away and the team this year is doing a solid job converting those takeaways into points
  • Man has Adams blossomed. He's making a dynamic contested catch for a big play at least once or twice a game and for the most part has delivered.
  • Denmark though, has nearly disappeared. A nice one handed grab late in the game, had the early TD catch, but also a couple of drops. I expected more from him this year, especially with the way he and Nichols connected last season. I figured Thorpe was guaranteed to sit once Dressler got healthy, now I wonder if Denmark doesn't sit a few games.
  • I would still like to see this team convert more in the red zone, especially in the first half. Perhaps Medlock is too much a security blanket and the urgency isn't there early enough.
  • Our D is still too inconsistent. We still have a hole in the secondary and their tackling on the RBs and the QBs last night left a lot to be desired.
  • Quite sick of seeing Lewis have another big game against us. And that leap, I swear it seems like he gets one of those in against the Blue almost every game. Congrats to him on the record though.
  • don't get what the Als are doing at QB. Trading away Vernon Adamsbasically puts all their hopes into Durant and they need him to stay healthy, because at this point I don't think anyone can expect Willy to lead their team after how his career has gone the last couple of years. Durant was brutal for the Als vs the Argos last week. While he made big plays last night, his turnovers really helped kill the Als. Those two picks to Randle especially never should have happened. As much as he can be an asset, his horrible play vs the Agos and his mistakes last night cost the Als a shot at a couple of wins. Montreal is not good enough that it can overcome that many mistakes from their QB, especially a veteran QB like Durant.
