Nye: What are the Ticats' options at receiver?

Going into Free Agency one of the top players on the board was receiver Tim White.

Ditch Bo, pay White…

(Nothing to see here. Just more words to meet minimal word count requirements).

Seems apparent that Tim White’s demand for a salary of $300,000+ is too high for any team. Blame Chris Jones for starting this trend of $300K + salaries for receivers. Now all talented Receivers will not sign for anything less than $300K

There are many outstanding NCAA receivers who never get picked to be in the NFL and would love to come to Canada. As a Canadian who played and started in the NCAA I remember looking at every player on my U.S. School Team and was amazed that every starting player on my School Team was “bigger” than the same position starter for the Tiger-Cats. My criteria for a Receiver would be:

  1. Tall Big Target.
  2. Fast 4.4 in the forty or better.
  3. Good hands
  4. Track record of winning the 50/50 Ball

If a scout find prospects that can do this bring 5 guys into Camp and may the best man win. Remember these important words from former Ticat GM O.B…

“BETTER IS BETTER!!!”

I liked the look of Justin McGriff before he got hurt at the end of training camp last year and I see they’ve resigned him

Where is speedy b lol.

I think ex-Bomber Sheed Bailey will be entering Ti-Cats Country before too long. Bailey is 6’2", 212 lbs. but obviously doesn’t run more than a 4.65/4.75 40 - thats why he’s not in the NFL as a 4th or 5th WR.
Dalton Schoen is 6’2", 215 lbs and certainly nowhere near 4.5/40 but he has uncanny route-running ability and gets on his QB’s wavelength like I’ve never seen before. Really great hands, too! Won’t drop more than a couple balls a season.

$300K for Tim White is just ludacris. He needs to accept a 1 year contract at $250K and be grateful. Heck, Schoen is only getting $230K… Plus White needs to ball out in a playoff game to prove he is a difference maker and worth the extra coin.

Most teams must be close to the cap take what they are offering you or sit out the season

Teams are sitting back and waiting, eventually he will realize he won’t be getting $300k and he will take the highest bid and that may not be from the Ticats. I think he will be an Argo
