Nye: Examining team needs ahead of the CFL Draft

The debate with any draft is always centred on one question: do you draft based on positional need or take the best player available?

Good analysis. I agree with your assessments for the most part. The Argos &, surprisingly, the Elks, have a good head start & can afford to be picky.

The Riders depth on OL - Blake is 38, Sceviour is coming off a bad year, Zerr has already been dropped by the team that drafted him 12th. Fry - questions there too. I’ve been hearing Riders may play 3 @ WR - makes sense as past Bane, there’s a pile of no-name import WR’s. So likely Riders pick up a REC again & get one of a good crop of OL later on. They need to land 2 OL IMO, one that’s close to be ready to play.

BC’s got a lot of National talent. I really don’t think there will be a dropoff w/o Betts. Robertson was a good add. As for Calgary - OL for sure to keep Maier upright.
