October 24: Lucky Honey
BC gets Snoop Dogg and we get this crap
Every year BC gets a great opening day Act
Last year it was 50 Cent
And we get a battle of the bands competition
It’s nothing but complaints with you - every single time.
You complain about local bands playing at the stadium. For many, it’s their first concert with an audience this large. One can say that the team is giving them their first big chance; one that they would in all probablility not get in their career.
Please remind us - how many games to you pay to attend every year?
I’ve got ticket for the BC game this year
that’s it I like sitting home in front of my television
I can eat what I want and it doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg
I’m not stuck in traffic getting home from the game
When I was younger I used to love going to the games
But since the games become so corporate I’m just not as big a fan
I loved a few of the acts we saw last year. My wife still listens to Fast Brake and as soon as she saw they were back this year she immediately circled it as one of the games she wants to go to with the Home Opener and the Labour Day game.
Look at BC’s attendance compared to ours B.C. Lions, 26,883 Hamilton Tiger-Cats, 22,001
And I’m not the one who feels that way
The B.C. Lions (15.8 percent), Toronto Argonauts (5.7 percent), and Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2.5 percent) also saw notable increases, while the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (3.8 percent) experienced a notable decrease.
I think the better comparison would be as a percentage of capacity. Hamilton is usually up near the top. If you don’t like the games then don’t come, no one’s forcing you.
If you take away the Home Opener Concert game crowd and their game in Victoria ( 14k) BC averaged about 24k a game in a metro area of 3 million . Hamilton Metro population is about 800k.
So comparing attendance numbers is not really fair. 24k vs 22k : 3 Million vs 800k
BC has had a very generous owner who has worked hard to increase attendance by 40% since 2019. Hamilton has a very generous owner who has made the team a staple in the community again.
Both teams can be celebrated.
As for the Ticat in game experience, ,there could be a puppet show in the Stipley endzone and I would be fine.
Andy Colonico recently played Whiskey Jam in Nashville but yeah some haven’t played big shows likely besides local festivals . I know Andy , Matthew , Janna & Lucas .
Its too give smaller independent artists a chance to grow there audience. Hopefully for Labour Day they will hire someone more well known to perform and not a cover band like before . It annoyed me Stampeders had Jade Eagleson one Labour Day and ticats were cheap & just got a cover band that year especially when there is Tim Hicks and other well known local artists . Totally fair to have indie artists on the small stripley stage .
Personally speaking, I enjoy the Stipley experience, both pre-game & at halftime.
During the 2023 season (& perhaps 2022 as well??) they had a BBQ food vendor in the Stipley end zone peddling some excellent Pulled Pork Sandwiches . . . sadly, they did not return to the Stipley in 2024.
The Tiger-Cats’ Stadium experience team introduced the live bands in the Stipley end zone both pre-game & at halftime in 2024. I enjoyed that, however . . . when they book a Marching Band to entertain the masses at Halftime, the “Stadium Experience” team has to pick one . . . they cannot have both performing simultaneously during Halftime, trying to drown each other out . . . I recall that occurred at least once last year, with disastrous effect. I expect they will not repeat that mistake.
