:als_red: Non-Alouettes CFL Talk

I keep thinking of MBT’s pathetic throws toward the sidelines returned the other way and just can’t share your enthusiasm.

If you’re talking about the Edmonton pick-six, he was playing injured, and while he bears responsibility, Maas is equally responsible for an awful playcall, given the down and distance. And every QB throws picks. Rourke, Brown, and Adams threw some doozies this past week.

How about watching him use Tyson Philpot to dissect the Rider defences a few weeks ago? Those weren’t “pathetic” throws. They were right on the money.

Riders were missing their top two DB’s - Sayles and Campbell.

Exume first start at that position.

Good on MBT and Philpot for taking advantage of that scenario.

So excuse every loss we had where we were fielding B and C squads, missing half our secondary and starting guys like Kaseem Ferdinand at receiver while hoping James Morgan could be functional.

Every team has injuries. No excuses either way.

MBT was also very effective in the first Calgary win.

As I also wrote :

Yes.

You’re wasting your time Tony. You know he has to win every argument.

Have to admire Edmonton keeping their playoff hopes alive. Good for Cody. He’s looking great this year and showing that he can still be a starter in this league. Hard not to wonder if Edmonton would have secured a playoff spot already if they had started the year with Fajardo at QB1.

Meanwhile, Collaros is basically riding legacy accomplishments. Only reason he is still the starter in Winnipeg is what he’s done in the past and the fact that they do not have a capable passer to replace him.

I just watched the highlights of that EE/Bombers game. Man there were a couple of crazy touchdowns in that game. Good on the Elks keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Collaros definitely had a bad game. He has also had some great games this year. I guess that’s how great players devolve with age. Still good, but not as consistent. You can apply some of that thinking to Hamilton’s/BLM’s performance Friday night too.

The whole game was like that. There were so many crazy plays, but also great straight-forward plays for long gains. I watch that, and it was undecided until the very end, and I wonder what the commish is trying to fix.

Yeah good points.

The Wilson TD catch was crazy.

Collaros has certainly been Jekyll and Hyde this season, definitely Jekyll yesterday.

We play the Bombers last game and then possibly the next week in the semi-final.

The commish & governors are trying to get more US eyes on the league either for TV ratings or possible expansion.

Time will tell how successful.

Collaros has had many bad games over the past two seasons. He’s a shadow of his former self. Occasionally, you will see flashes, but Bo has absolutely outplayed him on aggregate both in 2024 and in 2025. It’s not particularly close, either.

Collaros: 2866 yards in 12 GP, 16 TDs, 15 INTs, 97 efficiency rating. Second highest interception percentage in the league behind Chris Streveler and his sparkling 6 TD / 11 INT stat line.

Mitchell: 5032 yards in 17 GP, 34 TDs, 11 INTs, and 105.7 efficiency rating.

Collaros is definitely on the downswing of his career. I would not be surprised to see him hang up his cleats at the end of this season. O’Shea woukd bring him back, I personally would not. Time for Winnipeg to move on. Just not sure who that would be with next year. They don’t seem to have an heir apparent and I don’t know,

They are riding Collaros into retirement and it’s giving me heavy “AC at the end of his career” vibes. If Zach retired after 2025, what on earth would they do? The way they call games for Streveler makes it clear how they feel about his passing ability. Their QB3 is a completely unknown, unproven entity.

Maybe they make a play for Arbuckle. He is the only QB2 that I can see moving into a starting role next year somewhere: Though; frankly I am not convinced that the Argos aren’t ready to move on from Kelly. But I can’t really see another #2, other than Crum who might be ready to move into a starter’s job.

I doubt that Dru Brown will return to Ottawa; he could be traded to Winnipeg.

Oh yeah, why? Seems pretty early to give up on him.
