So far no one has signed Laval QB Arnaud Desjardins. I’m not sure if he has another year of college eligibility.
“Kids in Québec play CEGEP football after they’re done high school and prior to university,” explained Stamps director of Canadian scouting Dwayne Cameron. “So not only do they come to us a little bit older, but they come in a little bit more mature and have played a little bit more high-level football from the time they’ve been in high school — and I think that shows.

“Rarely are the Québec kids overwhelmed when they first come into training camp, and it’s a little bit easier for them to make that transition, I think.”
The Elks have released former Als 4th round pick DL Micah Roane who we sort of felt the Elks poached from us this off-season.
That’s possible, but he’s got few subscribers and his videos usually don’t get more than a handful of likes. If you run a Youtube channel, you should want to grow your viewership, and this isn’t the way to do it.
He may as well call his channel West Division Analysis. At least that would be more honest than opening a video by repeatedly saying that “every team” in the league runs a play and then showing one western team five times at the expense of the entire east division.
My Youtube is floaded daily with at least half a dozen Habs podcasts. Some are quite impressive in production and content.
On the negative side they are often 25 or 26 years old. Where guys like Tiger Shanks are 23 and played over 50 NCAA games and bowls. I think at some positions Dline comes to mind a little older may be an advantage, at most position it is not. As for the maturity aspect I think that’s a trope. A 23 year old can be as mature as a 26 year old. The Als philosophy is opposite of Calgary’s. Beauchemin is 22, Shanks is 23, Galliardez is 23, Yazbeck 23, Maisonneuve 24. That’s how you end up with a 24 year old Veteran like Philpot.
I found this picture of Antoine at training camp last year. The other players are out on the field. He’s standing around wearing a backpack. He hadn’t recovered from injury.
The first 1/2 of 2024 it was the Alouettes’ Tyson Philpot. Period. End of story.
Hard to think of a guy 464 lbs. trying to make the NFL but here he is.
I’d suggest the Als add him to their neg list but he might have trouble fitting into the small Molson Stadium dressing room.
Ex-Al Gowanlock is another pre-camp casualty.

Surprising to see Patterson get released. Winnipeg’s QB room isn’t exactly robust, and Collaros getting the 1-game suspension will test that room even further.
Going through the Redblacks team you can’t help but think they will be our biggest competition in the East.
Their only question mark might be their secondary.

Anyone see any value on any of the other teams’s cut for us? A number of Canadian OLmen like Black and Zerr, both high-round picks. But I am not seeing much that we’d be interested in.
Yeah, I don’t see anything valuable there. We’ve still got to trim our own roster anyway.
The Riders cut this RB who was with the Redblacks last season, but can’t say I know too much about him other than seeing him in a couple of games against us.
Ultimately, if you trust your scouts and your personnel evaluation, you aren’t going to raid other teams’ TC cuts unless injuries leave you absolutely no choice or someone really valuable becomes available, and the latter is pretty rare.
