This feels a bit like when we had Harris and Adams and we said we’d keep both. Was it a month that lasted? VA will be unhappy, rightfully so, and nobody wants that in the locker room. Someone will come along and offer a first round draft pick or more and it will be hard to resist.
I would think almost every team aside from the Als may consider making the Lions an offer at some point.
$200,000 of the money is marketing money and doesn’t count against the cap.
The marketing money thing is ludicrous and something the league needs to fix. Why even have a cap if you can flagrantly get around it like this?
Couldn’t agree more. I think Oliveira has $40,000 in marketing money but 200k is really next level. Otherwise, everyone else is like 10-20k. This has the potential to really be a problem for the league. A quarter to a third of your salary coming from off field activities? Really?
And I’m sure the guys making league minimum and busting their tails just for a roster spot are thrilled to see star players, who already make far more than they do, getting all the extra cash…
I don’t have problems with some players receiving marketing money that does not count against the cap, but an amount such as $200,000 for QB Nathan Rourke does not make sense; we are talking a little more than 30% of the player’s basic pay. Yes, Rourke’s arrival/signing will definitely bring more than $200,000 in additional attendance revenue, but it’s a team sport and no player can win alone. Will they give Adams $100,000 in marketing money in order to keep both QBs on the roster?
I won’t be surprised if this item is reviewed during the 2024-2025 off-season. There should be a limit on the amount a team can pay for marketing money and a limit on how much a player can receive.
If the Owners have so much to spend on marketing money, they should first increase the approved salary cap, so all players will benefit. The minimum salary should be set at $80,000,

Hamilton fans getting ready to ride BLM out of town as if their defence isn’t one of the worst in the league. Hard to understand.
Is there a team willing to trade for him???
I’m sure there are interested teams, but the minimum asking price would be a first-round pick (what we obtained for Vernon in 2022) and I’m not sure BC wants to give him up right now, in the season when they’re hosting the Grey Cup. One injury to Rourke and it’s back to Dolegala aka losing if they don’t have Adams…
Makes sense, they can still make a trade after the season. Vernon was having a breakout year. sucks… He will overcome this anyway.
Milanovich cutting off his nose to spite his face here. There’s no coming back from this now after he’s basically said he hoped things would have “worked out differently.” But if Powell struggles or gets injured, who the hell does he turn to? Frost or Tagovailoa, neither of who has proven one damn thing in this league? Or does he come crawling back to Bo and basically all but tell the team that he has no plan?
Brutal. There’s a way to pull a QB without throwing a nuke at your QB room and this wasn’t it.
I didn’t used to like Bo because I always thought he was arrogant, but he has showed poise and professionalism these past two years and I thought that IG was quite funny and self-effacing. Be interesting to see if he gets traded. I have a feeling next year he is in a booth for TSN. There is a good article on 3down that his stats try is year are inflated as they have come in garbage time.
Yeah, he’s carried himself like a pro in all of this. Never once showed frustration or called out coaches or players. The IG post was funny – a lighthearted way to cope with tough workplace stuff.
IMO that article was a hatchet job and very unfair to him. But all the media pundits seem to have forgotten that you need a full team to win. Last time I checked, Bo can’t control his fullback fumbling the ball on his first completed pass, the kicker hitting the uprights, the bazillion penalties taken, or the defence giving up 30+ points a game every game.
Ultimately – Hamilton never looks ready to start a game in all three phases and that is 100% on the coordinators and the head coach, not Bo.
Oh yeah, make no mistake, Hamilton is a bad team. I was surprised that they weren’t more active in FA. They had money. There problems run way deeper than just Bo. We’ll see if the Powell boost lasts.
Good luck to Taylor Powell but Vernon Adams will be the Tiger-Cats 2025 QB. Maybe even by the 2024 trade deadline,
