I would have been excited if Thorpe was named Special Teams Co-ordinator, but as Defensive Co-ordinator, lets face it, we won`t really know until mid-season. I had high hopes in Reinebold, but now will remain skeptical with Thorpe until he proves himself.

He is obviously not in Chris Jones or Rich Stublers class as yet. But there was really no one else out there that was an obvious choice. Greg Marshall`s defenses always seemed to fold in the big games, and potential newbies like Steinhauer and Washington would also have to prove themselves.

So heres hoping that Trestman gets it right this time. [b]We dont want Johnny starting any Fire Trestman threads.[/b]

In all fairness to Trestman, he was somewhat handicapped and limited last year by Tibesar`s late departure in mid -Jan. He might even have wanted Thorpe at the time, but could have been denied permission.

[i]Trestman was on the hot seat after the Eastern final. But, after firing Reinebold and Hiring Thorpe, Johnny is gonna give him a reprieve.

Reading between the lines, I think Reinebold, among other things, was not an effective communicator. It's one thing to play the rah-rah card and stir people up with a speech. It's another to be able to communicate your expectations clearly to the players, down to positional details and coverage audibles. If Chip Cox endorses the hire, that's good enough for me. :thup:

Why do you say this/think so? As far as I am concerned, Tim Burke was added to Marc’s coaching staff,by Marc. Burke was the interim defensive coordinator,-in the 2007 mid-season- in Calgary, but Chris Jones was hired as the defensive coordinator,in 2008,resulting in Tim Burke looking elsewhere. He was hired as Als defensive coordinator in 2008.

Je ne suis pas certain que c’est vraiment Trestman qui ait embauché Burke. Lors de l’embauche de Trestman, Popp avait mentionné qu’il verrait à entourer Trestman d’entraîneurs qui connaissent bien le football canadien, parce que Trestman n’y avait jamais goûté. Mon impression est que c’est Popp qui a vu en Burke ce genre de candidat et qui l’a vendu à Trestman. En fin de compte, Trestman l’aurait engagé, mais peut-être un peu beaucoup parce qu’il était alors le poulain de Popp.

So far the comments with regards to Noêl Thorpe have all been positive; yesterday,in Journal de MTL, comments from Carabins players were also very positive. Personnally, I am positive with his signing; he also resides in Montreal.-Pointe-Claire- A young-41- coach who knows the organization/Montreal/the CFL.

When Reinebold was signed, it was the beginning of February of 2012,meaning there was less time to review/analyse the roster. For the upcoming season, the review/analyse has already begun.

They went about this very quickly, the nice thing is it will give theme more time to prepare for next season. A hire is always a gamble but there are a lot of positives in this hire. Just wish he had more experience as a Pro coordinator but maybe he can make up for it with hard work and enthousiasm. Good luck Noel.

Thorpe had five years as the Als’ ST coordinator. I know you’re thinking of pro experience as a DC, but he’s not a green scrub. I will venture to say also that he will do a much better job coaching up our DBs than Jeff “no PI calls on my secondary because they’re all playing 15 yards off their receivers and giving up huge gains / TDs” Reinebold.
