[No longer so] Tired & Embarrassed.

Not everyone who disliked the penalty call thought it was a conspiracy. Some felt that it was simply bad or unnecessary. Let’s not tar all with the same brush.

As I recall after last season’s ESF, there were a number of very emotional Als fans who carried on for months after that about how they were jobbed on a possible interference call. Some failed to recognize an earlier no call on Fantuz near the Montreal goal line that would netted the same result.

He’s on the rules committee, so instead of shhhing him, they should be paying attention. This example only reinforces my point to Fender Guy.

Nah...

Show me one post where Als fans "discussed" the officials ethnicity ? or a post where fans suggested the league had thrown the game on purpose.

Also that "tackle" in the end zone before the ball hit Carter in the chest lead to the first ever review rule of PI in football anywhere.

Finally there is a difference IMO between a non call and complaining that the correct call should not have been made.

Your Ticats have a bright future, very bright but Sunday night Calgary outplayed Hamilton badly in the first half especially and deserved to win that game. That blocked field goal was a beauty. Eric Rogers was unstoppable and man handled Stewart. So maybe Austin should praise the victors for a game well played instead of hidden jabs at officials.

The difference in the end came down to kicking and receivers. Hamilton will likely look at if it is worth paying guys like Medlock and Fantuz the kind of money they are getting or spending that money elsewhere or on other players playing those positions.

Yeah so those discussion should be discussed in committee, not inside the dressing room after the biggest game of the season.
He’s also ONE voice on that committee.

Unfortunately, Discipline, his corrective comes with a nasty, almost arrogant tone. This is a forum that is supposed to welcome ALL opinions, not just those that he acknowledges. I don’t agree with all of them, but I do like reading all of them. They may and often do bring a point of view that I had not considered. I still may not side with them, but in the end, I have learned something from them.

I often go to the Alouette site. I have acquired a good deal of football knowledge there.

I have often said here that I go to the forums here as much to learn as participate. It makes CFL viewing more enjoyable.

I thank you all for helping my football education.

No doubt. But the squeaky wheels tend to get the grease.

I don't think Als fans carried on for months, friend. That's quite an exaggeration. In any case, I agree with you. I don't really tolerate that kind of attitude from fans of any team, even when it's my own.

I have been critical of Austin a few times since he began to coach the team and each and every time I have been proven wrong. I am very glad that Kent is the coach of the Cats right now. I can’t think of anyone else who could do what he has done with the team in the short amount of time he has been here. However, the point made by the above post is something that still grinds me about Kent. We get it; the league needs to upgrade at officiating. Kent’s constant attacks and berating of the officials and his hinting that he is going to “take things up with the league behind closed doors” is to me, a bit immature. It reeks of “we’re too good to be losing” and that losses can be directly correlated with bad reffing. Time to act and stop bringing it up. Because saying that and even refusing to mention it when asked by the media but saying your comment is not to comment is a comment.

I dont disagree that Hamilton was outplayed in the first half. But fought back in the second half and came so close to winning it. Lets not forget that a football game has TWO halves.

I won’t go into the penalty call Sunday, as we will simply go on forever disagreeing. On the ESS, there are those of us in Hamilton, who would also state that both were no calls. I was at that game and had the binos on Fantuz and saw clearly that the Montreal player had Andy’s left arm hooked under his BEFORE the ball got there. That was as real as the situation later in that game that you fans complained about. Because a rule was not changed for ours does not make it any less relevant.

We lost and it was a block in the back. But to say Calgary was the better team is wrong. We had more total yards than them and had we converted one of our 3 4th qtr FGS to Tds or had not had the FG block we wouldve won the game.

Calagary was not the better team.

Ppl aren’t embaressing anyone. They can deal with the loss as they so choose.

Your thread title says it all. You’re tired and evidently very cranky. Get some sleep.

Actually one play DID cost us the game, you can spin it any way you like but that’s the truth.

A lot of this stems from the fact that Hamiltonians have a kind of inferiority complex. In my time dealing with people from across the country, most perceive Hamilton as the arse-pit of Canada. They see on TV all the smokestacks and heavy industry and assume that Hamilton is all just blue collar, mixed in with some welfare and crack addicts. I've heard this many times myself. Even from friends in Burlington who would rather associate themselves as part of the GTA. Most of these people have no idea that Hamilton has some beautiful surrounding areas with an affluent population.

Because of this the people of Hamilton don't expect to receive any favours. We have to fight, claw, scrape and endure a lot to achieve anything in this city. Look at the stadium or Red Hill parkway fiasco.

So it's no surprise to see people constantly on the defense and trying to rationalize why the city keeps getting shortchanged. When you feel everyone is against you, the populace, the government, the refs, then conspiracy theories will flourish.

Actually if you want to spin it that way. Another ONE play couldve cost us the game.

2 Pass 19 Zach Collaros pass to Bakari Grant for 19 yards to the Cgy24. Tackled by Brandon Smith.

Bakari grant had wide open field in front of him and needed to make one cut to the left and he would’ve scored a TD with 3 minutes left in the game to tie it up at 20-20.

Instead he ran straight allowing the defender to make a shoestring tackle.

I guess you can argue the one play likely did cost us the game, because had the block been legal we likely would have won. Calgary would have still had 35 seconds to try to get into tying field goal range so even that is not certain.

But on that one play - the block wasn’t legal - so we didn’t go ahead with 35 seconds left - and that was the CORRECT outcome of that one play.

So sorry Reed - admire you for a great game and even more so for manning up and taking responsibility - but I’m guessing you know in your heart of hearts, your illegal block likely cost us the Grey Cup. Unfortunate - but true.

I cant believe someone would make a post with this title!!!
Yes we got beat and yes it was a penalty, although a pretty pussy call IMO!

But if we get most of our guys signed, we are going to be a force to be dealt with in the CFL for the new 3-5 years, this team is young and eager and will only get better and better.

I have for one have already paid for my season tickets for next year!

GO CATS GO!!!

As tough a pill as this game was to swallow, I agree, that this Tiger Cat team will be a force for the future.

I have total faith in Kent Austin and his staff to make it so.

I believe that this team will be an excellent hard nosed team next year. I'm thinking back to the tough defense of Montford and Hitchcock. The team has a new home and a tough identity again. I can also see this team winning on the road next year. The Cats will be a force to reckon with for many years.

or the VP of officiating saying its definitely a judgement call.

Kent Austin is a considerate coach so his post game comments were meant to deflect attention away from his team ,as well it is a fact Special Team plays happen with players running all over the place ,multiple blocks happening some from the side some head on,a grab here then let go,( no call) and then there are blatant infractions right in front of an official.

Blocking infractions are all judgement calls ,the Official decides if it is from the side,if face mast is hit ,holding, late hits ,five yard infringement, all judgement calls .

It doesn' t mean the Official should just let an infraction go because it is in the last minutes of the game or the ball is on the other side of the field or because our team needs to win ,don't officials get it?( this has been written by a few others).

If an officials view is partially blocked than their judgement should be to let it go,that must happen alot. 8) Or we wish it happened more.
Most of these penalties falls on the players learning the rules and pushing the rule to it's limit to get an advantage.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback & opinions. Honestly, it really is greatly appreciated.

@oldfan is right. I shouldn’t ridicule anyone for expressing their opinions. My apologies for doing so. He’s also right that my post took a nasty & arrogant tone. Once again, my apologies.

@king10 is also correct. I was cranky & did need some sleep.

Just a little tired of the “conspiracy theories? that seem to continually float around here & other social media sites. I also get a little tired of complaining & blaming & such. But as pointed out by others & from how I can see it now … I mistook some people’s “Discussions? as blaming & complaining. That’s my mistake & one I will try not to make again.

Guess I was a little over-the-top in my zealousness on this subject & my apologies if I offended anyone.

Again, thanks to all for responding & posting & giving me pause for thought & ultimately motivating me to pen this response.

Thanks All.

Good to hear back from you, FenderGuy.

I think we were all emotional after the game Sunday. I understand what you were trying to say, just didn’t agree with how it was said.

I do love your analysis of the games and your pre game thoughts. Don’t want to ever lose that. You’re one of those people that I have learned A LOT from.

Do stay with us.
