A cautionary not about buying a game-worn jersey: The CFL sometimes has auctions of gear (for better than e-bay prices). I paid about $70 for a real jersey a couple of years ago (a journeyman player with the same last name as me). I looked like a sausage roll in it. It is super tight and he was a big guy. My 12 year old daughter wears it now as a dress.
That’s exactly opposite of what I would have assumed. I figured a game worn jersey would have been slightly larger to accommodate the pads the players wear. Given my size (I wear a medium or large, depending on manufacturer), I figured they’d all look like sacks on me - except maybe Banks’ jersey.
Getting one of a player that matches your name is pretty smart. First or last name, either one would work.
Some of the designs they came up with for the alternate jerseys, I thought, were hideous. I purchased online a Tiger cat reebok t shirt that was SUPPOSED to be a 3XL. It fitted more like a medium. I called the store and salesperson there explained that for some reason Reebok went smaller on their sizing. I could have returned it, but I gave it to my daughter.
Hopefully, the next supplier chosen will be better.
It will vary from player to player, but in general game jerseys are altered to be as close-fitting on the individual player as comfortably possible without limiting range of motion, in order not to give opposing players anything extra to grab onto. And pads have become much more compact in recent years, so less extra room is needed to accommodate them than in years gone by. In contrast, replica jerseys are intended as casual clothing for a wide range of body types, so they are cut pretty boxy.
Well I for one have liked the Rebook jersey’s and hats, so much that I might just be buying an away jersey before they leave. I for one hope to god Nike isn’t the new supplier. Those ugly NFL V collars are not something I will ever buy.
They say 2-3 weeks, but we ordered one for our son on the Sunday that we picked up our season tickets, and it was ready on the Tuesday after that. One thing that I thought was amazing was that they will allow more than 12 letters. I have a last name with 13 letters, and even on a youth jersey they fit it on there. Can’t even get that from MLSE.
The New CFL - Easy Come Easy Go , Concussions what's that ? Steroids what's that ? players are a dime a Dozen $$$$ it's all BUSINESS the old CFL is LONG GONE ..... Higher player turn over is the Norm , Don't bother with a name on the back unless it's the starting QB!
