Nichols is a spirited, smallish DB with above average speed to the football. Great reaction times and way above average open-field tackling skills.
He’s a piece of a puzzle as bomber defensive backfield traditionally gives up big gobs of yardage - they were defenseless vs. Fajardo and Als game-winning last minute drive in Grey Cup. Coaching might be the problem but moreso they don’t have a ton of speed on the corners. Bighill’s injury meant their on-field coaching went missing.

It was sad to see a near-dynasty team like that picked apart by a schoolyard QB with little to no resistance. And by the by, thats two years in a row virtually the same thing happened. Last year it was Chad Kelly coming off the bench, this year Fajardo finishing his finest moment as a pro.

Bombers were cohesive in spirit and effort. But the two weakest links in this cohesion were defensive backfield and d-line. If they can’t find a replacement for Bighill their linebacking will be next to go.
