Like I said, I gave you guys a break in Week 1 with two if not three fairly lopsided games to choose from. I think there are two lopsided games this week as well being #1 and #6. We’ll see.
My picks:
San Fran Atlanta San Diego (you know who I mean) Giants Colts Cowboys
It’s not bad to throw in a couple of easier ones early. It’s hard enough picking six games. It also depends on the available games. I looked at next week’s schedule and it doesn’t look the best for great matchups. That could change depending on how teams play this week.
All good - it’s not easy. My only recommendations now are as follows:
Avoid the Thursday night game unless it’s a really good match-up (or one of the three games on Thanksgiving Day USA)
If the Sunday night game or the Monday night game is a mismatch or simply two subpar teams facing off, please choose another game that is earlier. There is no benefit to waiting for such a dud of a game. This situation comes up more often later in the season plus it seems like every year, with the networks only scheduling the game for the large media market, we get some lame night game with awful Chicago playing earlier in the season.
I think we were already planning on following your suggestions and did last year as well. A Thursday game has to be a great matchup or a thanksgiving game to be picked. Sunday and Monday night games are only picked if they are a good matchup. Last week there were two good matchups those nights with the Jets/Bills game potentially being the best of the week. My master plan worked to perfection as the losing Giants were picked by 14 compared to 12 for Dallas and the losing Bills were picked by 23 to only 4 for the Jets.
Most in the pool I think missed the fact that the Jets are a very good team with both the offensive and defensive rookies of the year last year. Many picked them to go to the Super Bowl this year and certainly to be one of the top challengers to the Chiefs. Indeed they would have annihilated the Bills last night had Rodgers not been hurt. As it is they won with the NFL version of Drew Willy at QB. Alas all lofty expectations, which I shared, must now be reeled in as Aaron’s unfortunate injury will almost certainly prevent them from being Super Bowl material and they will probably be no better than just a playoff team, perhaps not even that. Bad for the Jets and bad for the league, even though I have no love for Rodgers.
