NFL - 11 minutes of play

Here is an article from the Wall Street Journal

I would think that the CFL would be at least 1.5 times more

A couple of years ago, I read a comparison about the number of plays in each league. CFL averaged 160 to 180 plays per game. The NFL averaged 120 to 140 plays per game. The timing rules are different plus that stupid 40 second clock cheats the NFL fans for the number of plays per game.

But then take a sport like soccer or hockey, sometimes much of the game, especially soccer, is played where there seems to be very little action in the neutral zone. The intensity of football action is just that, much more intense per time of play compared with a sport like soccer where the ball is in play much of the time. Good find kw, interesting.
