Next man up. Could be good for the Cats: 2 fresh qbs who are hungry. Gotta feed the cats.
Both Newman and Morton looked pretty good in the preseason - but then it WAS the preseason! We'll see how Newman fares with the start. Can't be any worse than Dane's start last week which was NOT good.

Says a whole lot about Dane Evans. I'll repeat what I said in my comments on the Beard trade. I expect the TiCats to be in the bidding for Collaros IF he hits free agency. Real mess in Hamilton right now.

Could this be the beginning of the end for Dane Evans as a starting CFL QB ?
It says that Dane Evans is hurt. Coach Stein confirmed this via his presser.
Dane Evans is a much better QB than what we have seen this year. This is the year from hell, like the sophmore jinx. Once he gets his confidence back, we'll see the Evans we saw alongside Masoli. I believe you can take that to the bank.

No, Dane Evans sucks, he is not a starting QB in this league, period!! I called it as soon as they let Masoli walk and signed this bum! I knew we were screwed! After Masoli's performance in the Grey Cup game, where he marched that team up n down the field against the best defense in the league, one would think his value would've been seen!! Now we're screwed, I see Bo Levi Mitchell going to Toronto, Rourke will continue his success in BC, where Vernon Adams may become available to the ticat's, or Arbuckle's success continues forcing Ottawa to make a decision between Arbuckle and Masoli, which could possibly leave a window open for the possible return of Masoli to Hamilton! Whatever Hamilton does will be an improvement over this disaster of a season, Evans has been exposed as the loser that he is, he's finished, another to add to the long list of QBs that had early success at the CFL game only to turn into a bum the following season. Tommy Condell has to go as well, that dude's playbook has been figured out by every defensive coordinator in the league, which is one of the major reasons Hamilton sucks so bad this year, the offensive playcalling has been absolutely pathetic, and that's because every defense knows exactly what's coming from the ticat's offense! Hamilton has to move on from Condell's washed up playbook, we have Khari Jones, use him! We need a completely new offensive mindset, blow this offense up and start from scratch!!

Newman ain't ready. The cats are better off with the actor that portrays Newman from "Seinfeld"

Looking to 2023 and Hamilton hosting the GC, the team will need to open the wallet and build a new team. Like Toronto did in 2012.
I guess the same was said about Anthony Cavillo and Zack Collaros. Both moved on to stellar careers. And both had great offensive lines in Montreal and Winnipeg. Not to mention great defensive units. Football is not a one player sport. It is a team effort. Bernie and Joe (Hall of Fame overdue) had great supporting casts. Too early to give up on the Great Dane.
Calvillo was put in the starting role too soon. He went to Montreal and studied behind Tracy Ham for a few seasons, then took over as starter.

As a Cat fan, I am concerned. While I hope for the best, the facts are Evans was supposed to lead us out of the darkness - now he is 3rd string?? The Cats (in my opinion) did very little recruiting over the off season, I'm not convinced we have the horses to pull the wagon on the offense - I really hope that I am wrong. It is too early for the Cats to throw in the towel - I hope this QB situation is not a sign of that starting now. Monday's game will be interesting no doubt - and a major test of their character - here's hoping! Oskee-Wee-Wee!

And you guys are the Dumb Team that gave away Collaros - MOP.
To be fair, Collaros was considered damaged goods after his second concussion, and most teams were not interested. He only became MOP material after going to Winnipeg.

Agree, letting Evans go will see him be a star with the new club... Ticats do this for QBs, remember a guy named Cavillo?

The dumb team that gave away Collaros was Toronto in 2013 and then again in 2019 on trade deadline day. 
Best trade deadline pickup in recent memory.

I have stated on a number of occasions that I am a Cat fan and support them - win or lose. BUT I am also critical of them when I see players or coaches not living up to their name. This year is a challenging one for the team - but I have wondered about how the Cats' management work or think - they got nothing one for Masoli, Acklin, Banks, Davis - I'm sure there are others - but these players were top grade players and the Cats got ZIP - they just cut them loose. As far as Evans goes, he is a great #2 QB - never was a starter - but the Cats did nothing to get a starter. I think the team is experiencing the accumulation of mistakes made by management - Steinhauer needs to shake things up fast or this season is a wash! Next man up is a great philosophy for the players, how about for the management too?
