Edmonton and Green Bay’s uniforms have something else in common besides just their colours. For different reasons, they also both took colours from university teams. In Edmonton’s case, it was the U of A Golden Bears, and in Green Bay’s case, it was the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (the current Green Bay and Notre Dame colours are different, though).
I imagine it’d be hard to change the mind of the sort of person who sees similarities between uniforms and automatically assumes that the Canadian team copied the American one. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that those types also think that Canadians copied football from the Americans and changed the rules just for the sake of being different.
Here's my rating of the current/various logos of the CFL
Tiger-Cats - I the current logo, I love that the head is perfect to fit into the Scoreboard and various media content, I love the standing Tiger Alt of the Logo on top of the writing, but most of all I love the leaping Tiger and how it perfectly forms around the helmet cage and over the white circle. It's the current best in my eyes. As far as the older logos, this isn't to say I didn't like the old, more detailed Tiger-Cats logo, but the yellow tongue used to throw me off in my youth and it doesn't really scale very well.
BC Lions - It's simple, it's well done it's not too flashy although it does come across as a little old, but I wouldn't say retire the old girl quite yet. - The old logos pretty much are the exact same problem. The Lion Paw I'm not a fan of and the Lion with a paw on the Football, while cool hasn't stood the test of time very well.
Roughriders - The stylized S is ubiquitous with Saskchewan and I've always likes the Wheat boarder on the logo. - The Circle S is nice and it's something I like in small doses, but the one with the old Football with the banners floating around it look awful and hasn't aged well.
Alouettes - I'm always surprised that they managed to make a small little lark, look so angry and serious, kind of like the Blue Jays 2000s logo. That being said, Football is an angry game so it fits. - The old logos however, not a fan. The Triangle is kinda lame and the white and red bird looks like scrawl.
Stampeders - Beautiful in it's simplicity, but should always be to a plain red backdrop (I really hope they don't go with the Red Circle logo and black helmets). - The red football and bucking bronco logo is just plain awful though, like old 49ers gold miner logo awful.
Edmonton - I normally don't like logos of just text, but given Edmonton's name, it's appropriate because I can't see anyone designing good up to date Eskimos logo. The Esks must never change these double EEs - As far as old logos..yeah...remember the polar bear logo. Enough said.
Argonauts - Some people call the background of the logo a porthole. Sure they are the boatmen, but it's supposed to be a shield (see their old logo). Anyways it's a little simple and may biggest beef is that it didn't need to come around. - The old 90s charging warrior logo I still say is the 2nd best logo to grace the CFL. It's got the wave, the Shield and A and an actual Argonaut. The old football boat logos were either to humorous or filled with banners that for the times I guess were nice, but haven't aged well.
8 - Blue Bombers - The Bombers new logo, or if you prefer going back to their old logo is quite possibly one of the worst logo changes I've seen. You took a perfectly good, modern, active and eye catching logo and made into as generic a logo as possible. As an occasion thing, sure, but there are High-school teams with better logos. - Needless to say I feel the lightening was better, but I actually like the old school shield and bison logo. It's more fit for soccer, but I like it all the same.
the lions posted a little teaser of their new jerseys on facebook. doesn't show much, but it does show they are sticking with the orange instead of the black and silver of the 90's.
