New Post Thanksgiving Turkeybend rankings!

Wow- what a weekend of games, suprises and bonehead plays. Really, despite all of our differences supporting our teams, what a league the CFL is full of upredictability and drama. Wow!! :rockin:   8) :cowboy:
Well, folks, after taking major ribbing and getting my neck stretched this weekend, I have come down to earth and am now balanced to propose a fair and righteous ranking- Here goes:
Gobble, Gobble;

  1. Saskatchewan Roughriders - only team to beat both Montreal and Calgary. Threw the game against Toronto to save the league. What a franchise of unselfish folks. Minor mishap against the lowly Argos will be corrected this weekend when the Riders overtake the stumped Stamps for first place in the West. What can I say or have been saying all along - this was inevitable. Henry Who???????????????????????????????

  2. Montreal Alouettes- Marvellous turnaround from the week before. Great defensive play and AC spread the ball around like a magician. Amazing collapse by the Stamps. Special congrats to Ben Cahoon- a tough customer but a class act.

  3. Calgary Stampeders- falling fast again. Discipline gone out the window. Henry defies prediction and logic as he seemingly has all the tools personally and all the weapons around him. Go figure. I would have a permanent heart condition if I was a Stamps fan. What gives with these inconsistent group of stars?????????????????????? Unbelievable lack of cohesion and discipline.

  4. Hamilton Tiger-Cats- Glenn and company have enough to get it done. However, the Argos vs. Ti-Cats games are always unpredictable and goofy plays more often than not become the turning point. Which team has the better total coaching staff should be the difference in this game too.

  5. Toronto Argos- defy logic and win games they should not win. Then, reality sets in and they play like the mediocre team that they are. Credit to them for winning at Mosiac. Regardless of my bias , hats off to them for this accomplisment. Brilliant direct snap on fake punt. Imagine Michael O'Shea being that inventive!! Well played ARgoooooooos!

  6. Winnipeg Blue Bombers- Disastrous coaching decision ended up lighting a firecracker under the should be starters butt!
Unbelievable comeback that defied logic. Yet who can deny the great throws and catches made by the Bombers in the comeback. And, the kick-return of the year setting up the tying field goal. LaPolice, you owe God, Buddha, Confucsious , Hare Krisna , Allah, and any other non-wordly being who might control fate for the rest of your life. I still can not believe the comeback!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Edmonton Esks- barely breathing but Ricky Ray still scares opponents. Need the game of their season to finish off the superior talented Lions this week. But, the way the Lions figure out how to lose games it just might happen. Who would you bet on. That is what I thought. That is why the Esks are ahead of the ghastly Lions.

  8. Never in the history of mankind has so many miscues happened in so little time to throw away a sure, salted away win.
SOME OF THE LION PLAYERS DESERVE THE ALL-TIME NINKINPOOP AWARDS AS DUMBEST PLAYERS OF ALL-TIME.
THEN, CASEY, IS HE THE HIGHEST PAID QB IN THE LEAGUE???????????????, IMPLODE ON TELEVISION WAS A SICK, SAD SIGHT.
UN FRICKEN BELIEVABLE. To my lion fan combantants my heart goes out to you all- I actually felt sorry for the loyal fan who must have stopped living watching this disaster unfold before their eyes. But thanks for guaranteeing another home playoff game for my Riders.      :rockin: :rockin: :rockin:

Love to all! :cowboy:

well, lets see…

toronto also beat Mont and Calgary, not to mention the riders…nice try

montreal beat both sask and cal
cal beat both sask and mont
Cal beat sask two out of three so far. advantage cal…nice try

In head to head, cal outscored sask 118-80. montreal outscored sask 81-80. montreal outscored cal 67-65.
Montreal wins two series, advantage mont.
Between the 3 teams, cal has best points foragainst. advantage cal

sask lost to both wpg and edmonton, while cal and montreal only lost to BC, of the bottom 3.

and of course there is the one extra loss by sask

not to mention sask has less points for than both cal and montreal, and more points against than same.

I cant seem to find a single point in sask favor.

1 - Calgary - kick sask butt so far

1b- Montreal - one more win than sask, one less loss to calgary

3 - Toronto - because they are only team to beat cal, sask, and mont, which according to turkey, means a lot

4 - Sask - Couldnt find enough reason to rank them lower

5 - Hamilton - because they have better points foragainst than tor

6 - WPG - because they have the 4th best points foragainst and are the best team to probably miss the playoffs since before crossover

7 - Edmonton - beat BC two out of three. Have a better QB.

8 - BC - Couldnt find any other teams to put ahead of them

Woe is me to agree with Turkeyman about his description of my woeful Lions. However, Turkeyman, Stamps and Als fans should remember the old proverb that says once you hit the bottom of a well the only way to go is up. Conversely, when on the top the only direction to go is down. The goal is to make the playoffs. Remember hot shot teams, watch out for an angry group of lions come playoff time. Check the records and see how often a third place team ends up in the grey cup. Relish in your glory but it is misplaced until when it counts. So stuff the rhetoric turkeyman and see if your riders play ball when it really counts.

Nope; One of these games you mentioned above has to be a preseason game, so thus the series to date stands tied at one game each. This upcoming game on Oct.17th in Regina will determine who will have the 2 games to 1 series lead. Calgary does lead in points scored which is 14pts more than Sask. however.

damn…keep forgetting to look out for preseason games. grrrr

oh well, advantage cal anyhowe  8)

Excellent rankings and well thought out, YouBet.

Turkey laid another egg. :thdn: :thdn:

I see I made the same screwup with bcedmonton, sigh.

oh well, edmonton still has a better QB

Fun thing about the turkey rankings is that if you simply remove Saskatchewan, the rest of them are pretty good.

In all honesty guys- we should be listening to Backer-oldclarke who is in first place in the football wins pool organized by Big Dave. I came first one season in the regular season pool but cannot seem to predict the future as well anymore. Well done Backer-oldclarke you are right on the money this season. Give us your rankings next week!! :rockin: :rockin:

Rider Pride Nation Wide!!

Your rankings had respect at the beginning of the year Turkeybend. They sure don't now. You had the Argos ranked 8th last week, the Riders lose to them and the Riders keep their top spot? You and you're Rider bias could justify anything in your head. You're a joke. School kids laugh at you.

Thanks turkeybend; it’s a lot of work/thought control on my part with a little ā€œLUCKā€ too. I’ll take a stab at my rankings at the end of this weekends games. Cheers

From one bird to another, you’ve been fired!!! :rockin: :rockin: :rockin:

He is SO fired. Those are the most cockamamy rankings I've ever seen. He says the Riders are the only team to beat Montreal and Calgary. SORRY BUD. The Argos have beat both those teams too.

Way to keep him honest.

He should be  !

See, that’s how you have to go about looking at Turkey’s rankings. If you remove the bias (Saskatchewan), you end up with very solid, reasonable rankings. :stuck_out_tongue:

I'd match my rankings against the official CFL powerrankings any day of the week. They are the riduculous ones.
But to say schoolchildren laugh at me- gosh I just had to call the psychiatrist in Gull Lake for an appointment as I am so upset. I feel now like a character in the One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest movie. Gobble Gobble. But my Riders are heading towards 1st place in the West and soon to a Grey Cup victory. Yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cowboy: :rockin:   :expressionless:  :stuck_out_tongue: :x  8) :? :o :frowning:

No, I am not Wally Buono in disguise!! Honest!

turkey, some weeks your rankings are actually very reasonable. This is not one of those weeks.

I don't know, to me power rankings should reflect current trends and not the complete season, that's what standing are for. To get a good "feeling" of how a team is doing and utilizing it's talents I would go no more then 4 weeks back to take a look of what are the"Power Rankings". In this case the only one way out of place would be Calgary which would be close to the bottom of the rankings given recent trends and Montreal / Sask would be pretty much a tie for first.

Here is how I would calculate my "Power Rankings". Data taken over last 4 weeks based on Win/Loss and Total Point Differential with Win/Loss taking precedence falling to total +/- in case of Win/Loss record tie. Here would be the rankings based on this criteria

  1. Montreal 3-1 +22
  2. Saskatchewan 3-1 +19
  3. Hamilton 2-2 +20
  4. BC 2-2 +5
  5. Toronto 2-2 -20
  6. Edmonton 2-2 -25
  7. Winnipeg 1-3 +2
  8. Calgary 1-3 -27

Dont quit your day job because even Sambo wouldnt agree with that garbage.
