A good choice and glad the deal is done now and not lingering in the off season.
Now I anxiously wait for the Adidas merch to go on clearance!
“This is 1st time New Era Cap will charge onto football field providing uniforms & sideline apparel in addition to our line of fan gear and headwear that blends sports with lifestyle,? said Dave Heimburg, Vice President & GM North America, New Era Apparel.
I’m very interested to see how New Era does with the jerseys and clothes.
They are the best when it comes to head wear imo.
No changes until 2020.
New Era takes over but CFL uniforms will remain the same in 2019
New Era takes over as the official CFL apparel supplier in 2019, but the uniforms will remain unchanged until 2020.
There will be a New Era patch put on the current kits but New Era will use the same manufacturer as adidas. The last time helmet, jersey and pant combinations were drastically altered was in 2016: the B.C. Lions went modern and the Bombers retro.
The agreement between New Era and the CFL – believed to be a pact for more than four years – is longer than the adidas relationship that lasted three seasons. That can be beneficial for both sides as the working relationship should become stronger over time.
For the CFL, after many were wondering where the league could turn next when adidas and the league parted ways, New Era is a forward-thinking find; it was the first headwear company to be partnered with the NFL, NBA and MLB concurrently. It’s a big league brand known well around the world.
The natural progression for the company would be to expand the apparel possibilities and the CFL provides the opportunity for New Era to develop, expand and grow.
What I like is they have variety .
They have old school and new school to appeal to many tastes .
They make great hats, but are they up for jerseys. Sometimes being the first in new venture could be a good or bad thing for the customer (in this case the CFL).
But if they can get the Stamps to lose the black helmets and the Lions to rethink their pumpkin disaster look, I’m all for it.
On another note, hope the PA is paying attention to yet more revenue flowing into the league that they have a rightful claim to (at least a fair part of).
Now I anxiously wait for the Adidas merch to go on clearance!Yeah!
Although many of the current jerseys are really ugly. The Lions, Stampeders, Roughriders and Alouettes are particularly bad these days.
I hope New Balance goes back to less busy more traditional designs free of the piping and big team letters that have spoiled far too many jerseys in recent years.
:-\
Does anyone actually know or would hazard a guess what this sponsorship actually means to the league annually in dollars?
I love that an emerging apparel provider is being used…a company that is likely looking at the CFL and drooling a bit at the opportunity. You are unlikely to get the same from a Nike, Adidas, Under Armor…
This is a big opportunity for them I am sure…I like it.
New Era.
New Balance does running shoes.
Indeed! It’s bad enough when I don’t know what I’m talking about, but it’s worse still when I don’t even know who I’m talking about!
;D
Wonder how that meshes with the Alouettes plans? They have clearly been building towards some sort of logo change, which could involve uniform (style/colours) changes to match.
This came up in another thread. I really like the big letters.
HMMM.....
Which team do you think it will be??
Moe Khan?

Stay tuned, I can confirm one CFL team that will have a completely new uniform look for the 2019 season. #CFLGameDay #CFL
Ha...."pumpkin disaster". That's good.
I call the Lions.
I’d assume it would be Montreal? As GHT120 mentioned earlier in this thread, they’re clearly moving to some sort of logo change/rebrand.
I freaking love the colours the BC Lions have on now. I think I’m the only one who thinks as much though.
And Moe Khan is a radio host in Montreal.
