Nelson snaps at chance to continue family CFL lineage with Leos

Just woke up and saw this on my twitter feed. I was about to post it here but you beat me to it!

Great interview explaining how Nelson got into long snapping because of his father;

“I remember [my dad] said he was going through two-a-days and it was brutal. He just looks off to the side and sees the specialists hanging out. He was like, ‘Man, if I have a son, he’s going to learn how to be a snapper,’ so he started making me do it.”

Some fun quotes from veteran kicker Sean Whyte too lol Gotta love these guys.

Looks like it’s an open competition in training camp, however, I wouldn’t rule out both players making the game-day roster. Kyle Nelson has lined up at TE/FB while Riley Pickett was originally drafted as a Defensive Lineman back in 2022. I think it’s possible that the Lions keep both players in case of injury. It’s never a bad thing to have 2 good long snappers.

Interesting to see what happens with Pickett with Nelson in camp.
