Happy cake day

Wasting 2 mins before calling his first timeout was definitely a sign of terrible time management.

I wonder if that touchdown catch , which was ruled as a catch at the half yard line, was a factor.

What’s the difference? If he uses them and TCU gets the first down (which they did) they kill 2 minutes the other way.
It didn’t end up hurting them at all. They had a full minute with the ball and basically CFL timing rules.

He was hoping for a stop and to have about 1:30 with the ball and 3 time outs.

It’s how you use those timeouts. It’s about stopping TCU’s momentum.

I still think that was a touchdown instead of the ruling at the half yard line.

Of course it was. And targeting at the end.

The issue with the time outs was TCU ran for like 4 and then 5… There was no good spot to call a time out.

And I don’t believe in momentum. Michigan had the momentum at that point and their D didn’t get the job done like it didn’t all day.

In hindsight the timeouts had no affect.

Now, the 2 pick 6’s and the two additional turnovers inside the opponent’s 5? That’s a problem.

Twice the replay review messed up on targeting and the touchdown play.

Why have it if it doesn’t accomplish the desired effect.

I see that John Harbaugh of the Ravens bit the dust against my Steelers last night . Golly , I'm so upset . It must have been the officiating .

All I would say is that with the games on Saturday is the Big 10 does not seem like it's ready for prime time...again. Michigan basically crapped the bed against TCU ( highly underrated and plays wwwaaaayyyyy more physical than Big 12 teams usually play...) with terrible turnovers...Ohio State gave up 14 point leads to Georgia TWICE....

I agree that TCU brought it on both lines to Michigan, but MU made mistakes that 99% of the time just don’t happen. They still had 500+ yds of offense against a team without elite QB and WRs.

I think the layoff hurt them and just a series of ill timed mistakes cost them, but I still think it they play that game 10 times Michigan wins 8 of them. Ohio St aswell also would have beat TCU.

Which going to suck because, he’s ranked high on alot of NFL prospect sites.

Can you explain what you are attempting to say here?? It seems like 2 different thoughts got mashed together into a single sentence.

I do not understand how TCU’s lack of an elite QB or WR’s has any bearing whatsoever on Michigan’s offensive output. Makes no sense . . .

One other point that I would like to make . . . TCU’s Quentin Johnston IS elite. He will probably be the first WR selected during this year’s NFL draft.

Yeah that came out wrong.
Michigan had 500+ yds of offense, and they don’t have an elite QB or WR.

Johnston is projected to go #8 in the first round of the NFL Draft . I'd say these 2 Horned Frogs are elite .

I think what he was saying is that Michigan had 500+ yards of offence and Michigan does not have an elite QB or WR.

That leads into the rest of the comment that says Michigan made too many untimely (and maybe uncharacteristic?) mistakes this game, but that he thinks Michigan would win the game 8 times out of 10.

I think most gamblers would see it the same way. If the two teams faced one another again this weekend I’m expecting Michigan would still be favoured on the Vegas lines.

"I agree that TCU brought it on both lines to Michigan, but MU made mistakes that 99% of the time just don't happen. They still had 500+ yds of offense against a team without elite QB and WRs". The post is talking about MU and it's 99% perfect team and an opponent with no elite QB or WR . I guess we can agree to disagree . :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes as I mentioned above that’s where I was intending to go.

TCU didn’t exactly dominate Michigan, Michigan made some huge mistakes, and despite those mistakes they had 500+ yds of offense. MU’s game isn’t throwing the ball around and they still were able to do that against TCU.

The game turned into a shootout mostly because of MUs turnovers and errors.

Especially the fumble on the TCU goal line in the 1st half…It turns out that was probably the back breaker NOT the Pick 6’s…

Ten Canadian players are scheduled to take part in the 2023 College Gridiron Showcase (CGS) in Fort Worth, Texas from January 7-11.

This year, eight players from U Sports schools will be competing as part of the Desperados team: Guelph defensive back Siriman Harrison Bagayogo, Guelph receiver Clark Barnes, Laurier defensive back Patrick Burke Jr., Western offensive lineman Phillip Grohovac, UBC defensive lineman Lake Korte-Moore, Concordia receiver Jeremy Murphy, Ottawa linebacker James Peter, and Sherbrooke offensive lineman Anthony Vandal.

In addition, Canadian linebacker/safety Jonathan Sutherland from Penn State will compete as a member of the Wranglers team. Toronto punter Dante Mastrogiuseppe will participate as part of the Regulators, a specialist showcase which will take place on Sunday.

According to the Fall Edition of the CFL’s Scouting Bureau ranking, Sutherland is the highest-rated prospect in attendance after coming in at No. 10 on that list. Barnes (No. 13), Bagayogo (No. 16), and Korte-Moore (No. 20) were also featured on the Top 20 list.

Sutherland has played 58 games over five seasons at Penn State, making 137 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and an interception. The Ottawa native was the first four-time team captain in school history and was highly active on special teams in addition to his defensive role.

Barnes had a disappointing senior season with the Gryphons, playing in four games and recording nine catches for 58 yards, but has often been limited by poor quarterbacking throughout his college career. The Brampton native has amassed 49 receptions for 650 yards and six touchdowns during his 17-game career, adding another major on the ground and 23 kick returns for 610 yards and four more scores.

Bagayogo was named a first-team All-Canadian at cornerback for a second consecutive season in 2022, establishing himself as one of U Sports’ top cover men. The Bois-des-Filion native has recorded 50.5 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles and two blocked kicks in 23 career games.

Korte-Moore was named a Canada West all-star at defensive end in 2022 as a key piece of the surprising Hardy Cup finalist Thunderbirds. In 34 career games, the Ottawa native has 110 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, two interceptions, and three forced fumbles.

Burke had a career year for the Golden Hawks in 2022, earning second-team OUA all-star status. In 10 games, the Etobicoke native notched 39 tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions and five pass breakups.

Grohovac was named a first-team All-Canadian at guard in 2022, building off his second-team selection in 2021. The Victoria native has appeared in 23 games over the past three seasons for the Mustangs.

Murphy was also a first-team All-Canadian selection in 2022, after winning the Peter Gorman Trophy as the U Sports Rookie of the Year in 2019. In 18 career games played, the St. Bruno native has hauled in 86 passes for 1,387 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Peter earned first-team All-Canadian status at linebacker after an outstanding campaign for the Gee-Gees. In 30 career U Sports games, the Ottawa native has amassed 122.5 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.

Vandal was selected as a second-team All-Canadian at tackle. The Sorel-Tracy native has been an RSEQ all-star in three consecutive seasons.

Mastroguiseppe transferred to Toronto from York after going unselected in the 2022 CFL Draft, earning second-team OUA all-star honours. The London native averaged 42.6 yards per punt and pinned opponents inside their own 20-yard line on 11 different occasions.

In addition to the CFL Draft prospects, Canada’s only NCAA school, Simon Fraser University, will have American-born defensive back Damon Lynch participate in the Small College Showcase. Manitoba kicker Niko Di Fonte took part in the Pro Gridiron Showcase free-agent workout on Friday, alongside Edmonton Elks kicker Sergio Castillo.
