With only 11 states where it is not legal in any way, it was inevitable. Funny Rebagliati got mentioned.
I read his real story. Sort of funny but he noticed the guys who were using cannabis were out on the hill training when he was still trying to drag his sore tired ass out of bed every morning. His getting caught was sort of a watershed moment for the IOC.

Funny part is - cannabis is in a lot of ways a performance enhancing drug. It allows guys to get back to training and practice when they wouldn't be able to without painkillers.

I remember Hector Pothier getting busted for possession more than once in his career.

I'm glad this option is becoming available. One of the other ways guys managed pain before was opioids. What a horrifying option that is. Because of pain issues I have been addicted several times and have seen what happens near the end of addiction when the effects are reversed - instead of wanting to go to sleep - it's like drinking a couple energy drinks. Small wonder its a leading cause of death for former pro athletes. Oh, and while I'm on the subject, who caused the opioid crisis a few years ago? Doctors. Handing out prescriptions like confetti. And we were their victims......
