Calgary seeks a sweep of the Labour Day back to back as the Esks hope to avenge the Labour Day loss at McMahon. Will Mike Reilly be good to go for Edmonton? I expect a pushback from the home club, but unless they can solve Jon Cornish this time, even if Reilly and Fred Stamps return, it may not be enough.
Game is nwo underway. So far the punters are busier than the receivers! Neither QB has made more than 2-3 plays before being shut down. Nichols in for Reilly again. The EE in their signature unis which to my mind sont look that much different than their regular - sans arm stripes. Do like the striping` detail on the helmets though.
Nags are on the score board with a FG but so far, like many other games this season, more defense than offense is evident. Three Nag defenders with a motorcycle celebration after sacking Nichols. That`s a little bold! :cowboy:
EE offense FINALLY got some traction and almost half way through the 2nd quarter Nichols gets a pass to Guyton who runs it in for the first TD of the weekend! 7-3 EE
Must be catching (pun intended) but the nags just managed to drive down the field and ex-Ticat Charbonneau with his first TD! Nice going! 10-7 Nags. Glad this isnt turning out like last nights snoozer!
Nags with a second TD to give them a 10 pt lead. 17-7. EE don`t want to dig too deep a hole here. They do get a stop and will try to put more points on the board with about 1 minute remaining to the half.
Costly turnover for the EE as Nichols loses the ball when sacked and Nags scoop it up. One play later. Bo tosses the TD to McDaniel to give the Nags a 2 score lead - 24-10.
White now in for the underperforming (?) Nichols but just overthrew Stamps for a sure TD. Stamps (as in Fred) with a HUGE FD PU deep in enemy territory! End of the third.
EE in the red zone but a penalty on 2nd and short means that they have to go for the FG rather than the major. 31-13 Nags.
EE respond with their own TD drive but with about 20 seconds left will have to win the onside kick - but they don't Ex-Ticat Charbonneau with the catch on the kick. Final 41-34 Nags.
