My First Argo Home Game

So I have been going to Rider games since 1979 and have had the opportunity to make it to games in all other cities except Montreal, Hamilton, And Toronto. This past weekend I took in my first Argo game and wasn't sure what to expect as far as atmosphere, etc seeing as how before the present owners came along there seemed to be such apathy for the Argos in Toronto.

Well I just want to say I had a great time. The crowd was good (31,000 approximately) and they were loud. The cheerleaders were hot and I even caught one of their shirts they were throwing to fans. It was the first time ever in Rogers Centre and I had a great time. Lots of Argos jerseys and stuff as well as lots of NFL jerseys but hey, at least they were at the Argos game. After the game I went onto the field; cool stuff. I left the game feeling much better about the Argos and their chances of survival in Toronto. Way to go Argos fans!!

The Argos' "See you on the field" promotion where they invite the fans onto the field to meet the players and cheerleaders after each home game brings a stronger connection between the team and its fans, in my opinion. I don't believe they have such a promo in any of the other stadiums in the league.

We always get a decent mix of fans for the games, and the attendance numbers for last Saturday's game was remarkable. It'll be interesting to see what the turnout will be for the next home game on Sept. 9 when the Ti-Cats make the trek up the QEW for the Labour Day rematch.

The Ticat fans like to think that without them the Argos attendance would be less then at IWS. I didn't see any Ticat shirts there Saturday. :slight_smile:

im sick of watching the argos pound a hapless ticat team..it gets boring.

I’m glad you had a good time too. Everyone should come to the dome at least once this year. I think a lot of people would be surprised at all the improvements and fun an Argo game is now, which is a far cry from a few years ago. I like the stadium, its location, the roof, the banners/posters, the jumbrotron, the restaurants, the field, the authographs after. The dome is a great place and I’m kinda sick of people dissing it because its really improved and a new stadium would have had us all wet Saturday. The next game will only be better with Hamilton.

Getting 30,000+ on a SAT. in summer , with the EX on , with a losing record , Vs. the great MONTREAL in town and with no RICKY , is just great. :thup:

It is allot of fun with the FAN FEST TAIL GATE party just out side the DOME , 4 hours before the game. :thup:

Wait until after Labour day and for the rest of the season. :thup:

Mr: Glad you enjoyed yourself! Good to hear positive comments from someone after a visit to our park. (I personally still don't like the place, but I understand the benefit of the roof.) Hope you come back again!
