The next time I get the opportunity to talk to Coach Taaffe I'll have to ask him how good his memory is.
After the black and gold scrimmage during training camp, I got a chance to talk with the Coach for a bit. Anyways I'll give you the Coles Notes version of the conversation. I mentioned two players to Charlie. One was Jesse Lumsden, who was ailing at the time and did not participate in the scrimmage. I told the coach to watch this guy play, he's like a man playing against kids....he's big and fast and he can run you over.
Charlie had only seen Lumsden on film.
Now you have to remember during camp, all the talk was Maas, Chang and Butler.....meaning the best qb they had was going unnoticed because he never got the "big ink", like the other qb's.
The other player I mentioned to Coach Taaffe was number 17....Richie Williams. I told Coach Taaffe that Williams was like a young Casey Printers. He's got a great arm and quick feet, and whenever he was put in last year, he was productive. I mentioned to Richie that I had put in a good word for him with the coach. He thank me and said he really appreciated my words. I feel really good for the kid, believe me, he finally got a chance and showed his talent level. The guy was just so humble when I spoke to him, real down to earth guy who finally gets his chance.
so i guess what you're looking for is a pat on the back and an atta boy for telling charlie(the coach)
that you, (a fan) sees something in young richie williams, you're the only one that had the foresight to make charlie aware that richie williams was one to watch out for. i'm not sure the braintrust of the tiger-cats needed you, (a fan) to tell them to watch out for richie williams.
this is clearly a waste of a post.
Williams didn't play that well last year. He threw a nice long t.d pass but other than that he struggled pretty badly like any rookie q.b would, he was definately not 'productive' last year.
Hey,citylegend.Did someone pee in your Rice Krispies this morning,or something. Jeez,we just got our second win of the season, cut us some slack,eh? The guy was just feelin good and passing it on about an experience he had with the coach.
bopp
Hey cityledgend,
Yeah I do feel good for the players I mentioned. No, I don't need or want a pat on the back either. The main reason why I mentioned it on this site is the fact that it was so good to see Richie get a legit shot at playing and prove himself. When I talked with Taaffe I guess I just wanted him to give the kid a real good look because all the focus was on the other qb's.
Oh yeah, when Richie got to play last year, usually under trying circumstances, he was productive.
So if you don't like what I had to say, tough. :cowboy:

What a mean spirited reply to a very innocent observation.
I don't think buckwheat was looking for accolades here, but simply relating an interesting story.
Lay off, CL! Responses like yours contaminate this site.
RE Buckwheat- The Politics of football , dictated to CT what cards he had to play, i had Buttler-King -Williams, to make the team, i thought they would trade Maas and Cut lose Change :cowboy:
