Murphy rejoins Stamps in scouting position

Sportsnet is reporting that John Murphy is rejoining the Stamps in a scouting/player personnel position but is not replacing Jim Barker.

Former Blue Bombers director of player personnel John Murphy, who spent last season in Winnipeg in that role, will return to Calgary in a scouting/personnel position.

The Stampeders will announce Thursday that Murphy, who worked for head coach/GM John Hufnagel in the team’s front office in 2008, will be back.

Murphy does not replace Jim Barker, who Tuesday was named head coach of the Argonauts, since Hufnagel has re-assigned responsibilities in the football operations department.

Defensive coordinator Chris Jones has had his personnel portfolio expanded and Murphy will be another piece to the Stamps football staff.

Sportsnet got it partially wrong. Murphy was named director of player personnel for the Stamps. Perhaps because Murphy wasn't named VP as well Sportsnet doesn't consider him to be Barker's replacement.
