Most Painful 'Defection' To The Argos?

Now that Belli has gone from Montreal to the Double Blue, it got me thinking about 'traitors' from the past who wore the black and gold and then - somehow, at some time - ended up in blue.

Which of these hurt the most for you? Who still remains in your mind as a 'traitor'? Why did this one bother you so much?

(If any... yes, I know it's pro sports and people move around but hey- unless you're a Stoic you don't believe that emotions are always subject to reason. This is for fun.)

As for Traitor...O'Shea hands down.

Most painful...Zambiasi. Not really a defection since he seemed to be no longer wanted here...but it really hurt to watch him in the double blue.

O'Shea, Steinauer, Adrion Smith and Clifford Ivory are all bums for driving east on the QEW for more $. Especially O'Shea.

But the one that really hurt was Montford. He was a favourite player of mine, and when he left I knew he couldn't care less about the Ticats or Hamilton, just the $. Which 7-11 is he working at now??????????

O'Shea for me. I felt we embraced him as a Steeltown ball player, a rare thing. It's kind of like an elite hall of fame for cats. That one hurt.

O'Shea.

He was from Sudbury and played tough for us
in the old-time Tiger Cat tradition.

I believe he was the first Canadian rookie
to ever start at the position of MLB.

I was pulling for him when he tried to make the Detroit Lions
but I can never forgive for signing with the Argos on returning.

He really let us down.

P.S.

When I found out several linebackers went down with injuries
just after he gave up there and came home early, I just loved it.

He could have stayed and made some big bucks.

Morreale, simply because of the way our fans treated him before he came back.

O'Shea, Steinauer, Adrion Smith and Clifford Ivory are all bums for driving east on the QEW for more $. Especially O'Shea.
Steinauer was traded to Toronto, he didn't sign with them. In 2000, Hamilton traded Steinauer, a first-round draft pick and Eric Lapointe to reacquire O'Shea, and then O'Shea left the team again after one season, making it a thoroughly horrible trade.

Easy. O’Shea. Promised Sutherin he’d come back here if NFL didnt work out. Not only did he screw over the fans and the organization but Sutherin too.
He desrves every boo he gets.

O'Shea. Traitor or classless liar, whatever you prefer.

Okay... for me it was 'Gentle Ben'. I loved his cookies; I loved his play............. Undersized, Big Heart.

Ten seasons with the 'Cats and then- one with the Argos. I never understood it at the time and I still feel that there must have been some backroom things going on.

I didn't - and still don't - feel like he was a traitor. But it hurt the most- that's for sure. Hendy- I'm with you. Zambiasi was it.

O'Shea? He's just a bum.

When Ralph Sazio left the GM position in Hamilton to take over the Argo's.

That was kind of tough

Montford. After his wife told me at the Grey Cup in Montreal "He ain't goin' anywhere."

borehamgirl!!!

Ralph Sazio Hands Down.. is the worst of all the time.
He was The Ticats for long Time..
To Even See him in Argo Blue Hurt

Players Wise For Me I have to be O'Shea.
Cause he did more then Once to us.

I liken the moves by those you speak of to the day many of you quit your first job at MacDonalds for 15 cents more an hour at Tim Hortons.

When the baby needs new shoes, you want to be able to afford it.

Ya you wouldnt leave Hamilton for Toronto if they wanted to pay you top dollar now would you ??

Any athelete , especially the CFL where money is tight to begin with ,wants to cash in when he gets the chance . How could he look his wife and family in the eye if he knew he could make way more money on another team ? Especially if his carreer could be over on the first play of his next game ??? Give your head a shale will you !!!!

Yeesh, how unrealistic can you get? These guys play for peanuts, have short enough careers as it is and are tossed aside as soon as they slow down a step or the team finds a younger/cheaper guy. They HAVE to go wherever they feel they can maximize their earnings for as long as they can.

Look in the mirror. Who wouldn't?

An Argo-Cat fan

Nope, but i would give hamilton the chance to put in a comparable offer.

laughinghard, habman, barneyfife-

Sorry guys, but did you read my original post?
I wrote,

“(… yes, I know it’s pro sports and people move around but hey- unless you’re a Stoic you don’t believe that emotions are always subject to reason. This is for fun.)”

We’ve had lots of debate threads on the topic of ‘moving around’ before- this one was just about gut feelings because of the special relationship between the Argos and 'Cats.

It would work equally well between the Eskies and Stamps.

So- can we get back in touch with our feelings (there’s the counsellor in me). Thanks!

Now, who’s da’ bum…

I've mentioned before that these two "rivals" swap players more than any two teams in the world. I understand this particular topic because more often than not, for whatever the reason, the player heading Toronto's way is usually on the upside via free agent or trade while Argos players landing in Hamilton have been recently cut or deemed expendable.
