Morris: '89 Riders share how to beat a 16-2 team

On the day of the 1989 Western Final, a cartoon appeared in the Edmonton Sun newspaper depicting a lamb wearing a dented Saskatchewan Roughriders helmet.

So there is some hope for Montreal??

In 2019, Winnipeg (11-7) crushed Hamilton (15-3) in the Grey Cup final. Just saying.

Montreal has a good defence but their offence is not consistent. Cant see an upset in Toronto. They are dominant in all phases.

More just sayings…

In 2016 , Ottawa (8-9-1) defeated Calgary (15-2-1) GC
In 2017 , Toronto ( 9-9 ) defeated Calgary ( 13-4-1) GC
In 2001 , Calgary ( 8- 10) defeated Winnipeg ( 14 - 4 ) GC
In 2000 , B . C . ( 8 - 10) defeated Montreal ( 12 - 6 ) GC
In 1986 , Hamilton ( 9 - 8 - 1) defeated Edmonton ( 13 - 4 - 1 ) GC
In 1981 , Ottawa ( 5 - 11 ) defeated Hamilton ( 11 - 4 -1 ) EF

I’m not too optimistic because of Fajardo, but anyone can beat anyone over a single game. You never know who will perform well and who won’t. Not many predicted Toronto to win the cup last year against Winnipeg.

Interesting list, thanks. I Just remembered that no further than last year, Toronto (11-7 with average PF and PA stats) defeated Winnipeg (15-3).

They have yet to defeat the Argos-Bombers and Lions in this crazy 2023 season, The deciding factors are Turnovers-Speciality Teams-Big Plays. :star_struck: Based on the above I do believe my hometown Argos & Bombers will prevail this weekend. :100: May the best team Win. :bangbang:

Note: The 1989 Grey Cup game was the best Grey Cup performance of all-time in my humble opinion. Final Score Saskatchewan Roughriders-43 Hamilton Tiger Cats-40
