Moreno who?

Cam Siskowic......six tackles, a quarterback sack and a fumble recovery.

Played with passion and grit - a keeper at MLB.

I was watching #40 specifically and he sure did a good job of pushing Montreal's O Line back as well.

A lot of energy out there.

Absolutely agree- Siskowic looked great. Watched him make a few tackles where he ran from the short side all the way over to the strong side. No way he should have made either tackle. Pure hustle and great energy.

Not a fan of a celebration after every single tackle, but I'll chalk it up to youthful excitement.

Noticed him during the pre season and frankly was surprised he wasn't on the opening day starting roster. Let's hope he can stay and add stability.

Agree - more pure talent and much younger...............

I have to agree. Both Siskowicz and Anthony made me wonder what all the Moreno fuss was about. Rewatch the game, 48 was all over the place.

The Hulk in Middle was nice to see.
He lives with Other Guys in the Ticats Practice house
Most of guys saw playing time Vs Montreal
He said they are a Big Family with in Family in that House.

Defense gave up a record 44 completions. That is the most in the league's entire history. (Thousands and thousands of games) as well as the most yards of any game this season. Ticats won because of their offense, this win does not justify the Moreno trade.

Agreed.

As much as I liked Zeke at MLB and his leadership qualities, I have to acknowledge the play of Anthony and Siskowic as being good.

These guys were flying around everywhere against Montreal.

Anyone hear Sam Siskowic (grandfather) call in to the fifth quarter from San Diego? He listened to CHML's broadcast on the internet. Very cool.

As well as the Hulk played... I agree with HfxTc and the good Cap'n.

Moreno is still missed and but for the ratio, would have been playing in Mariuz's spot.

Is anyone old enough to remember Vince Mazza as the colour guy on CHML broadcasts of Ticat games back in the sixties and seventies?

Some of my fondest memories of Vince were how he would (unintentionally) absolutely "butcher" the pronunciation of players names. In my mind's ear I can hear him call # 40: "Sis - eh - Ko - Wits".

In a side note, should I change the first part of my signature? I know Zeke is no longer a Cat but the quote WAS from a game he was in black and gold.

Wasn't that John Michaluk?

Or as he came to be known... Johnny Mix-up.

Onknight:

Glad to see you are feeling better about this team today!
Me too.
What a difference a win can make. On the bus back downtown after the game it was as if we had won the Grey Cup. Cheering and yelling and non-stop Oskee Wee Wee's.

Its the kind of win that can allow the offense to take a step. That to me is the big thing.

Yes Johnny Mixup was also famous for his mispronunciations.

As the team was dominant back then (at least through my rose coloured glasses) maybe all we need today for the same results would be another colour guy with marbles in his mouth.

I dont know..............the qb that faced the cats yesterday ate them up all day long with short passes and shattered a cfl record for completions in a game. Mostly short passes. They were flying all over the field all right........after the mtl players made the catches and got the first down. Eventually they will find a replacement for zeke but until then I guess they will keep trying guys until they find one.

For sure beets.

But was itneresting to hear some analysis on TV crediting Creehan's strategy of not going after Calvillo because that would have burned the D for much bigger gains and possible game breakers.

They said that the D dropped back and allowed AC to do his quick release, short pass game and then swarm the receivers for minimal gains.

Did it work?

I thought it did in the first half, but it's a tough way to play D, that's for sure.

Remember when we hadefour straight possesions with 3 fumbles (Porter's, Mitchell's and Smith's) and a punt?

The D, for the most part, bent but did not break holding Montreal to 2 FGs only increasing their score from 3 to 9. That was good defence, but the comeback started right after that.

That lull in the offence hurt us big time, and it was that offensive lull, more than the D, that allowed Montreal's comeback in the 2nd half, IMO.

Which is precisely what teams have been doing to Ham. the past two years with Moreno in the lineup. Moreno would have made absolutley no difference yeterday in game which you might have noticed they won.
Quite obvious the team has moved on since the trade and have showed no real ill effects some people have desperately predicted and still not-so -secretly hope for.

Kudos, though, to find a negative in a big upset victory. But true to form you clowns follow the negativity schtick to the letter.

Chin up, BJ, still some games left to “roll”.

zontar and beetlejuice:

Montreal had receivers open all afternoon. They could have slaughtered us if not for our great defensive play and their occasional errors. We capitalized on their mistakes and came up with some great offence. Even that big halftime lead wasn't enough. It was the last quarter that we came up with some smart calls and clock management to pull out the win and up until the last 3 minutes it was still anyone's game. Heck of a good game.

OH no mr62.....your gonna upset zontey03 if you say montreal had open recievers all day. Not allowed to tell the truth. How many qbs had a day against our dfence like tony had yesterday when moreno was here? answer........NONE. All short passes all day long. They won the game and thats good. Anyone who thinks the defence doesnt still have huge holes in it is wearing the zontey03 glasses. Time to try the new block feature on zontey03. I noticed nobody else is responding to any of his posts and I guess thats why.
