As we’ve made the turn past OK Tire Labour Day Weekend and playoff football begins to come more into focus, so too do the major awards which will be voted on as the playoffs get underway.
I pretty much disagree with most of it . Laughable list from a lazy
reporter .
Fajardo at #1 is a joke .
Rourke at #2 is an even bigger joke .
VAJ at #3 ditto .
Brown at #4 ? Meh .
McInnis at #5 should be ranked higher imo .
Collaros at #6 He can’t be serious considering Zach with his paltry 8 tds up against his 13 ints . Lazy pick done strictly on
reputation alone.
Harris at #7 ? while he has decent stats he has missed almost
half a season of football and is as brittle as they come . #8 If Oliveira makes this list then so should William Stanback and also Kadeem Carey. #9 Tre Ford ? Now I know that this guy has not done his homework and is obviously the epitome of a lazy hack reporter . #10 Finally MBT although not one of my fav players should be ranked higher on this list , all things considered.
Sloppy , sloppy list without much thought put in to it if you ask me .
I agree, he has played 5 games looked good in 2 and not so good in 3 games.
Tre Ford has started 2 games, won one and injured in the 2nd quarter of one game.
The remaining QBs in the league have not been consistent, up and down.
MBT has had a strong second half.
But no outstanding QB this year.
The guy mentions every QB under the sun with the exception of the one who is leading the league in yardage and TD passes . He
mentions Oliviera but doesn’t mention the guy leading the league in rushing yards . He mentions a QB who hasn’t even thrown for 500 yds so far this season and has only started a handful of games in his entire career. I’m honestly surprised that he didn’t mention last years winner Lamps Kelly as a contender for the big prize .
Yup , like the poster Espo above said …“this list is straight up trolling” and I have to agree with this assessment of this trash article.
I’m not going to click on this article just based on what I’ve read here so far. Who wrote it?
Honestly there aren’t even 10 candidates that could be MOP unless you start pushing out to special teams which would be unheard of (Janarion Grant, Sergio Castillo, Rene Paredes).
Here would be my top 5 MOP candidates so far, in no particular order:
Justin McInnis
Rolan Milligan Jr
McLeod Bethel Thompson
Ka’Deem Carey
Tyrice Beverette
…and Tyson Philpot if he wasn’t injured for the rest of the season…
The problem with this year is that there are so many touchdown vultures this year that the counting stats look rather droll compared to previous years.
Streveler (10?!)/Prukop/Stevens/Crum/Mackie are all in the top 8 in TDs and account for 13% of the offensive TDs this year (39/297)
One would think an official sports league website along with it’s content writers, contributors, site edit editors etc etc. representing the CFL _Canadian Football League would strive to do better than putting biased filler or interjecting personal opinions. C’mon, all at cfl.ca can do better without the personal biases to whatever you put forth, keep it professional with high standards please.
It’s never how it works though for awards. You give it based on some weird formula based on what you have done in your career/how terribly you played this season, and a handful of “intangibles”.
IE: MOP? Will go to someone wondering why he’s MOP.
Terrible article. While I agree a QB is often deserving of MOP, this is basically just a list of QBs period. Not surprised coming from Marshall.
First half of season I’d agree with Fajardo and VAJ being up there. But not since injury or coming back as back up.
Rourke? Harris? MBT? Collaros? No way. Brown? Maybe, he’s been pivotal in Redbalcks comeback this season. Ford? Just hasn’t played enough to be in the conversation.
How about a season where MOP goes to the underrated options at defence?
