I am PUMPED for this game. Lots of ppl are saying that we'll see what this team is really made of, but I think we saw what it was made of in BC, and then again last on saturday. That being said, this game will be a good way to measure what our chances at a cup are. Predictions?
I predict a close one, and say we come out on top. 33-29.
definately the biggest game of the season so far. I actually think we're relatively evenly matched since we have one of the best if not the best passing defence so far this year, and if our dline and linebackers play like they did in the second half of last game...man, we're in for a good one!
I'm afraid our offense is not up to snuff quite yet with Porter still learning, and as a result Montreal's D will be the difference by giving the ball to the virtually unstoppable Montreal Offensel.
While I'd LOVE 2 pts here ... I'd be happy with a close game ... within 4 and I'm a happy girl. That will be a moral victory for me! And I think it's possible the way our D played the last game was AMAZING!!!! (Of course they did have the crowd in their corner which certainly helped!)
I just LOVED the roar of the crowd at the last game. I can't remember the last time I heard the crowd that LOUD!!
Anthony Calvillo tied Ron Lancaster for second in all-time TD passes …The Montreal Alouettes veteran fired his 333rd touchdown pass in a blowout win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders…
Now Calvillo has his sights on Damon Allen’s CFL record of 394 TD passes, and the Als veteran is on a much stronger pace than the ageless pivot.
If Calvillo keeps up his resurgence, he would overtake Allen sometime during the 2011 season. He would probably be 39 at the time (his birthday is Aug. 23, 1972), which would be much younger than Allen when he hung up the cleats at 44.
Let’s pretend Calvillo finishes with 400 TD passes to illustrate how tough that number would be to reach:
A new quarterback to the league would need to average 25 majors per year for 16 seasons.
Toronto Argonauts quarterback Kerry Joseph, who is going to turn 36 this season, would need to average about 30 TDs for another 10 years. His career high is 25.
Stamps pivot Henry Burris (34) would have to throw 35 a year for another six-plus seasons. He’s only topped 35 once.
Eskimos QB Ricky Ray (turning 30 this year) needs to maintain his remarkable average of 25.5 TDs per season for another nine years.
Among the current CFL pivots, Ray has the best chance of chasing down Calvillo due to his strong start to his career.
But Ray has only done it for five years and would need another solid 10 years to challenge for the final number.
That’s just how impressive Calvillo’s career has become
You can bet the Als will try and run the ball against us judging by our past and our injury at MLB. The Als have to be the best balanced team in the league so we better bring our best game. The press said the Als were the best offensive in the league I think their the best defensive team as well. This will be the acid test for the Cats.
we need to find a way to stop that run because we have been getting burned by it all year. if the backs are getting by our d line they have a lot of room to run usually.
Glenn has a learning curve of his own, with a new team and a little rust. Others are learning too, not just the QBs. I guess I didn’t word my post as good as I should have.
But, I wouldn’t hesistate to put Glenn in even if it’s for a needed spark, and not necessarilay bad play by Porter.
So your basically calling the Ticats flukers? Why don’t you walk up to Darrell Adams and tell them they won because both teams are in a bit of trouble at the moment, not because we have a good team. See what happens to ya. Your the kind of Ticat fan that everybody get’s annoyed with. No matter what, you ALWAYS try to fully exploit problems with our team and try to undermine them, yet you say you like the Ticats. Interesting.
A loss on Thursday means NOTHING. You seem to forget, the current champions got destroyed by the als, the team that was a pre-season favourite to win the grey cup (the Esks) got killed by the Als, and a team that has had a strong showing early in the season so far (the Riders) also got destroyed. So I don't believe a loss, or a bad loss for that matter will tell us anything, but a win or a near loss would indicate that we can compete with ANY team.
Sorry, but I agree a close game would be nice although I think this maybe a blowout. Montreal is just that good. We beat 2 struggling teams and in the last game we only scored 6 points against the peg. That just won't cut it against the Al's. In order to win Porter needs to be like he was last year in Montreal otherwise this game will be over by half. Realistically Hamilton is pretty even with the other teams in the league aside from Montreal and will be challenging for 2nd place in the east would be the best bet.
No I am not. Those are your words. Don’t attribute words to me that I did not say. Read my post.
Why don't you walk up to Darrell Adams and tell them they won because both teams are in a bit of trouble at the moment, not because we have a good team.
Why would I say something like that? You go say that.
Why is one exclusive of the other? I did not say we did not win because we had a good team. Feel free to go back to other posts of mine that clearly say how well we played. I believe the win was based on both factors. There are two teams in every game.
. Your the kind of Ticat fan that everybody get's annoyed with.
What makes you think you speak for eveybody?
No matter what, you ALWAYS try to fully exploit problems with our team and try to undermine them, yet you say you like the Ticats. Interesting.
Please show where I " ALWAYS try to fully exploit problems with our team". Don't ever presume to speak for me. What a crock!
I think you mean we scored 6 points in the first half, and BTW, why are you undermining our team by saying we beat struggling teams. Why don’t you go say that to Darrell Adams? :?
Point is you basically repeated what I said earlier in a post that you bashed. Go figure.
But look at it this way, how many Anthony Calvillo's are there in the league. Anyone? The only other team with a tremendous QB is Edmonton, and they're slipping at the moment. ANY team is beatable. Good gameplan and discipline is what it takes.
